Like many high school seniors, Deven Wilson loves sports, had a blast at homecoming and enjoys his part-time job. Unlike most 18-year-olds, he’s spent the last few years of his life seriously sick.

He and his family are intensely seeking a kidney from a living donor.

Just before Thanksgiving 2023, doctors initially couldn’t say why he went from playing an all-day varsity volleyball tournament for Shaler Area High School to coughing up blood and being admitted to the hospital, where he was later diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease.

After multiple frightening medical episodes — seizures, a blood clot in his heart, collapsed lungs — and more hospital stays, Deven was finally listed for a transplant in June. And now, he and his family are intensely seeking a kidney from a living donor.

The stage is set for a spectacular Thanksgiving at Pleasant Ridge. Our turkey is prepped to perfection, our sides are taking shape, and our dining room is transformed into a vibrant art gallery showcasing the talents of our residents.
