⭐ President’s Award

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to present the 2025 President’s Award to former Mayor David Miller.

A lifelong Leeds resident, decorated U.S. Navy veteran, and retired Commander, David Miller has dedicated decades of service to both his country and his community. During his 13 years as mayor, Leeds experienced significant growth, including major infrastructure improvements, strengthened city finances, and the addition of more than 80 new or expanded businesses—creating over 1,400 jobs.

David’s leadership, service, and lasting impact on the City of Leeds leave a legacy that continues to benefit our community today. It is a privilege to recognize him with this special honor.

The Chamber’s President’s Award is a unique honor selected solely by the Chamber President to recognize exceptional service to the Leeds community and was presented at Thursday's luncheon by Chamber Board President Steve Karr.

Non-Profit of the Year

Congratulations to Backpack Buddies, the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Non-Profit of the Year.

What began as a small grassroots effort in 2012 has grown into a lifeline for food-insecure children across our community. Backpack Buddies now serves thousands of students every weekend, ensuring children who rely on school meals during the week have nutritious food between Friday and Monday.

Their work provides more than meals—it offers dignity, care, and hope. We are grateful for the volunteers and supporters who make this life-changing mission possible.

🏆 Civic Person of the Year

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Kristy Biddle () as its 2025 Civic Person of the Year.

Under Kristy’s leadership, Leeds Main Street secured more than $100,000 in grant funding in 2025 alone—resulting in meaningful downtown revitalization through public art, infrastructure improvements, and direct support for small businesses. She has led strategic planning efforts, encouraged new perspectives on redevelopment, and helped transform vacant spaces into opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Through events that bring people together and customers downtown, Kristy continues to build civic pride and strengthen our sense of place. Her steady, collaborative leadership and unwavering commitment to Leeds make her truly deserving of this honor.

🏆 Business of the Year Award 🏆

We are proud to recognize The Shops of Grand River as the Chamber’s 2025 Business of the Year. The award was presented at Thursday’s luncheon.

A premier retail and entertainment destination for our region, The Shops of Grand River continues to attract families and visitors from near and far. In 2025, they also deepened their community impact through signature events like Grand RiverFest, seasonal celebrations, and meaningful collaborations with local leaders to enhance access and safety.

Equally important is their ongoing commitment to creating economic opportunities for retailers both large and small. By supporting a diverse mix of businesses, The Shops of Grand River helps drive traffic throughout the area, create and sustain jobs, and strengthen the economic vitality and cultural fabric of our community.

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce wrapped up 2025 in style at our monthly luncheon on Thursday, December 18, held at Leeds First Methodist Church. This special event included our annual awards presentation, recognition of outstanding businesses, and the induction of the 2026 Board of Directors. Thank you to our luncheon sponsor, Regions Bank.
