Take your asthma medication exactly as prescribed. Talk to your healthcare provider, insurer, and pharmacist about creating an emergency supply of prescription medications, such as asthma inhalers. Make sure that you have 30 days of non-prescription medications and supplies on hand too in case you need to stay home for a long time.
Know how to use your inhaler.
Avoid your asthma triggers.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces like tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks daily to protect yourself against COVID-19. Avoid disinfectants that can cause an asthma attack.
As more cases of COVID-19 are discovered and our communities take action to combat the spread of disease, it is natural for some people to feel concerned or stressed. Strong emotions can trigger an asthma attack. Take steps to help yourself cope with stress and anxiety.

Eczema, Hand-Washing and the New Coronavirus (COVID-19): Protecting Yourself and Your Skin.
Proper hand-washing is one of the best ways to prevent spreading viruses, like the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and the flu. But when you have a skin condition like eczema (atopic dermatitis or dyshidrotic eczema), washing your hands often can lead to dry and cracked skin, itchiness, pain and possibly infection. So how can people with eczema protect their skin while protecting themselves from the coronavirus?
How Can I Tell the Difference Between the Coronavirus, the Flu, a Cold or Seasonal Allergies?
There are some symptoms that are similar between these respiratory illnesses. This chart can help you figure out if you may be feeling symptoms of allergies or a respiratory illness like COVID-19. If you have a fever and a cough, call Dr Jones at (816) 246-2131

How Does the Coronavirus Spread?
The virus is spread through coughing (or sneezing). The virus will be in droplets that are coughed out into the air. These are heavy droplets and they quickly fall to the ground/surface below.
People who are within 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet) of someone who is ill with the coronavirus may be within the zone that droplets can reach. If someone who is sick coughs on or near your face, you may get infected. This is why it is recommended that everyone should cough/sneeze into their elbows or a tissue and throw it away and wash their hands. People who are sick should also wear a mask to help stop the spread of illness.
The coronavirus may also live on surfaces that people have coughed on. If you touch a surface with the virus on it and then touch your mouth, nose or eyes, you may get sick.

HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO GET TESTED
Symptoms which usually prompt an allergist to perform testing include:
• Respiratory: itchy eyes, nose or throat; nasal congestion, runny nose, watery eyes, chest congestion, cough or wheezing
• Skin: itchiness or eczema
• Abdominal: vomiting or cramping and diarrhea consistently after eating certain foods
• Severe reactions to stinging insect stings (other than swelling at the site of the sting)
• Anaphylaxis (pronounced an-a-fi-LAK-sis): a serious allergic reaction that affects many parts of the body at the same time
It is important that allergy testing is directed by a healthcare professional with sufficient allergy/immunology training and prompted by your medical history.
