Can Custom Orthotics Help With Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciosis, commonly but improperly referred to as plantar fasciitis, is a common condition that affects the foot, causing pain and discomfort in the heel and arch area. It’s characterized by the thickening or micro-tearing of the plantar fascia, a band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. Often times there is also inflammation of the surrounding soft tissues such as intrinsic muscles. While several treatment options are available for the condition, one potential solution that often helps relieve pain and symptoms is custom-calibrated foot orthotics.

Is There a Permanent Fix for Flat Feet? Yes — And It’s Minimally Invasive

Many people are told they have flat feet, or they notice their arches collapse and their feet roll inward when standing or walking. Often, they’re advised to wear orthotics or braces indefinitely — and sometimes even told there's no permanent fix.

But that’s no longer the case. Thanks to a breakthrough, minimally invasive procedure called EOTTS, there’s now a permanent solution that corrects the root cause of flat feet — without the need for major surgery.

Dr. Joel Foster, a double board-certified podiatric surgeon based in the Kansas City area, specializes in advanced treatments for flat feet and other foot and ankle conditions. He offers EOTTS as an effective, minimally invasive alternative to long-term bracing or traditional reconstructive surgery.

College Soccer Player's Experience with Bunion Correction Surgery

College soccer player Carly Hummell had struggled with bunion pain for years, particularly during games. When conservative treatments such as toe spacers and wider footwear failed to provide relief, Dr. Foster, an experienced bunion podiatrist, recommended a minimally invasive bunion correction surgery. Just nine weeks after the procedure, Carly was back in the gym, continuing her soccer training. "Recovery so far is going really smoothly. I've been working with my athletic trainer to get strength back in my foot. I'm participating in weights again, and I'm even close to being able to run again."
