Five things I wish every woman knew before perimenopause. (Number 3️⃣ WILL SURPRISE You!)
So many women blame themselves when their bodies start changing.
They think they need more discipline, more willpower, more caffeine, more effort.
But often, what they really need first is validation and understanding.
Because what they are experiencing may not be “just stress,” “just aging,” or something they need to push through. It may be the beginning of perimenopause—and too many women are never taught what that can actually look like.
Here are five things I wish every woman knew sooner about perimenopause:
1. It can start earlier than you think.
Not in your 50s. In your mid-to-late 30s.
2. It is not just hot flashes.
In other words: if your body feels different, your mind feels different, and your energy feels different, pay attention.
3. Your labs can look “normal” and you can still feel terrible.
“Normal” does not always mean optimal. It certainly does not mean you should settle for suffering or assume nothing is wrong.
4. You do not have to suffer through this.
You deserve more than being dismissed, minimized, or told to simply deal with it.
5. Timing matters.
Waiting until you are completely depleted is not the goal. Early understanding gives you more clarity, more options, and a better path forward.
What to focus on first
Start with the basics that support the body well: lower inflammation, prioritize sleep, support healthy stress levels, nourish your body, and move regularly.
For some women, those changes will be enough. For others, they are an important beginning—but not the full picture. That does not mean your body is broken. It means it may be time to look deeper.
When you understand what your body is communicating, you can stop blaming yourself and start responding with intention.
I will be sharing more on this in the coming weeks.
And remember: your body is divinely designed and has a great capacity to heal. It simply needs the right support.
