2026 Conference Speaker Announcement!
The way we support individuals who have experienced trauma matters—and so do the voices guiding this work.
Join us on April 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM (Central Time) at The Pavilion at John Knox Village for Safe, Seen, Supported: Trauma-Informed Approaches in I/DD Care. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM.
We are honored to welcome an outstanding group of speakers who bring deep expertise and lived experience to this important conversation:
• Dr. Karyn Harvey (Keynote Speaker) – An internationally recognized expert in trauma-informed care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, sharing decades of research and clinical insight.
• Deirdre Mercer – A disability rights leader and educator focused on inclusive, trauma-aware practices that strengthen systems of care.
• James McGinnis – A trauma survivor and motivational speaker who will share his personal journey of resilience and healing.
• Dominick McKinney – A self-advocate and public speaker who uses his lived experience to highlight the importance of voice, dignity, and empowerment.
This conference is designed for everyone including direct support professionals, clinicians, educators, providers, parents, people with disabilities, advocates, and community partners who are committed to strengthening trauma-informed care for individuals with I/DD.
Join us for a meaningful day of learning, connection, and practical insight—focused on care where every person is safe, seen, and supported.
