Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services Our mission is to Connect all communities through exceptional people, parks and programs.

PRCS offers a countywide system of facilities including trails, athletic fields, parks, open space, community, recreation and aquatic centers, senior and adult day centers, playgrounds, sports complexes, a nature preserve, a nature center, a performing and fine arts center, indoor and outdoor pools, and historic and heritage sites. Programs and services encompass facility planning and development, children’s programs (e.g., preschool, camps, after-school care), youth services, aging services, sports and recreation, community outreach, adaptive recreation, health and fitness and environmental stewardship. Here we 'snow' again! Loudoun County is under a Winter Storm Warning for Sunday, February 22, and Monday, February 23. Here is a quick reminder regarding PRCS Inclement Weather Guidelines.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 (𝐋𝐂𝐏𝐒) 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧)

• Parents and school officials are responsible for implementing emergency pick-up arrangements during school hours.

• CASA and YAS programs will maintain normal operating hours
• If weather conditions worsen during CASA or YAS hours, parents may be contacted to pick up participants early at the direction of the PRCS Director. CASA and YAS staff will remain on site until all participants have been picked up.

• All PRCS facilities are closed, and all programs, activities, and classes are canceled.

• The delayed opening time will be specified in an announcement for all PRCS facilities.
• There will be no transportation services for Senior Centers.
• There will be no transportation services for Adult Day Centers.
• There will be no home-delivered meals.
• All child care programs at PRCS Community and Recreation Centers will begin at the determined delayed status time. If Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) operate on a delay due to inclement weather, preschool classes will begin at the designated delayed opening time for Loudoun County Government. In the case of an LCPS closure, preschool classes are canceled; however, optional programs (Snow Day Camps) will be available.
• Participants should contact facility or program staff to confirm which classes/activities will operate as scheduled and which are canceled.

• Participants should contact the facility or program staff to confirm which classes/activities will operate as scheduled and which are canceled.

To everyone celebrating in Loudoun County, Happy Lunar New Year!

The Franklin Park Arts Center will host their annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 28, from 3:00 to 5:00pm. The event will include drumming, music demonstrations, and cultural education on the traditions surrounding Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse. Make a craft and sip hot tea in the lobby after the show while viewing the art exhibit “Freedom”.

In observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday, Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services and park administrative offices, adult day centers, and the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, and courts, are open to the public from dawn to dusk and provide a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to spend time together. The Nature/Visitor Centers at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park, Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve, and Claude Moore Park are open on Presidents’ Day during their regular scheduled hours.
All recreation centers (excluding preschool), community centers (excluding preschool and CASA), and the Round Hill Aquatic Center will maintain normal operating hours on February 16. Childcare will be available at all community centers.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Loudoun!

February is Heart Health Month, a great time to show your heart some love by staying active and spending time outdoors. PRCS offers hikes throughout the year that can help lower blood pressure, reduce stress, improve circulation and boost overall heart health.

This month, celebrate your love of the outdoors on two heart-themed hikes.

The self-led Heart Hike at Franklin Regional Park is available through February 28. Follow the scenic trail sprinkled with hidden wooden hearts along the way and see how many you can spot. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4azFC2b.

Or join us for a guided Heart Hunt Hike on Sunday, February 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve. This 1 to 2 mile hike is led by a Virginia Master Naturalist.
