Most people have heard of the heart and blood vessels… but not the lymphatic system—even though it’s a huge part of how your body stays healthy.
Lymphatic system (Think of it like your body’s drainage + cleanup + security system). It’s a network of tiny vessels and lymph nodes that: Moves extra fluid out of your tissues (so you don’t stay swollen)
Filters waste and helps clear inflammation
Supports immunity (those lymph nodes are part of your defense team)
What is ICG lymphography:
It lets us actually see lymph flow in real time—where it’s moving well, where it’s sluggish, and where it may be getting blocked. For many patients, it’s the first time their symptoms finally “make sense.”
When lymph flow is abnormal, it can contribute to:
Lymphedema (swelling, heaviness, tightness)
Lipedema (painful fat disorder often mistaken for “just weight gain”)
Chronic venous insufficiency/varicose veins
Post-surgical swelling (including after cancer treatment)
Inflammation and fibrosis (tissue thickening over time)
And YES—this can affect weight and body composition, because when fluid and inflammation build up, the scale may not reflect true fat loss, and the body can feel puffy, heavy, and “stuck.”
If you’ve ever felt like your body is holding onto swelling or your legs feel heavy despite doing “all the right things,” this is a conversation worth having.
