The Arc of Loudoun is a lifelong partner for people with disabilities and their families, providing services, education, advocacy, and therapy.
We serve as a regional hub for support through three Centers of Excellence, reaching 5,000+ people each year. Founded in 1967, The Arc of Loudoun advocates for, educates, serves, and supports people with disabilities and their families, serving more than 7,000 people each year including people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, educators, advocates; Arc volunteers; Veterans; members of the law enforcement, first responder and judicial system communities. At The Arc of Loudoun, we believe in creating a just and equitable world for people with disabilities—and we work toward that goal every day through our three core centers:
Ability Fitness Center – Promoting strength and mobility through fitness-based therapy
ALLY Advocacy Center – Empowering individuals and families through advocacy and support
The Aurora School – Providing specialized education for students with developmental disabilities
With more than 24,000 people with disabilities in Loudoun County, our work is far from done. But with your support, we can continue building a more inclusive community—one where everyone belongs.

Mark your calendars! Giving Tuesday is coming on December 2.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, encouraging people to do good. We’ve seen the power of generosity firsthand this year at The Arc of Loudoun, and we can’t wait to share more about what you can make possible!
Be the first to know and let us send you an email when The Arc of Loudoun posts news and promotions. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
In 1967, parents of children with disabilities founded The Arc of Loudoun because they had a vision to help their family members live “a life like yours.” In December 2009, The Arc leased the Paxton Campus and, on this property, created a seven acre "safe-haven" for all people with disabilities and their families.
Today, The Arc of Loudoun, a local chapter of The Arc National, is home to five, integrated programs that serve the most vulnerable and underserved in Loudoun and the Greater DC Region—children and adults with disabilities, their families and caretakers, and the professionals who work to help them achieve their greatest potential. We are the only community-based non-profit working for people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities throughout their lifetimes. We encompass all ages and all spectrums from autism, ASD, Down Syndrome, Fragile X, intellectual disabilities, various other developmental disabilities, and neurophysical disabilities including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, effects from stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and cerebral palsy.
The Arc of Loudoun serves more than 6,000 people with disabilities and their families each year through its five, integrated programs:
Open Door Learning Center equips preschool children ages 2-7 of all abilities with the social and developmental skills they need to thrive in mainstream kindergarten.
The Aurora School, a year-round private day school, helps significantly challenged students ages 5-22, primarily with autism, achieve personal excellence, gain independence and vocational skills to maximize their potential. Students come from nine different school systems including MD, VA, WV, and DC.
Ability Fitness Center is for people with neurological disorders—stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, parkinson's disease, down syndrome—giving them a one-of-a-kind place to workout using specialized equipment and expert clinicians.
Aurora Behavior Clinic provides individualized 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children ages 2-22 with autism and other related disabilities, with a specialized curriculum focused on verbal behavior and increasing social interactions.
ALLY "A Life Like Yours" Advocacy Center fills the unmet needs of the community by providing free information on disability rights, guidance, support, events, and workshops to families and caretakers of those with disabilities and the professionals who work with them, plus social activities for adults with disabilities.
