In response to last week’s poll, voters correctly noted that our farrier trims and shoes our horses every 4-6 weeks. (Each horse sees the farrier every five weeks, to be exact!)

This week’s poll tests more of your horse knowledge. Horses’ height is measured in hands - but how many inches comprise a hand? Is it:

Did you know that horses can experience pain and tension in their TMJ (temporomandibular joints) and poll (comparable to the human occiput)? We’re fortunate to partner with Katie Lipresti of Wellness Ambulatory Veterinary Services to help our horses feel comfortable, relaxed, and ready to work with their human counterparts.

Please join us in welcoming Torda to our healing herd! Torda is a retired polo pony who spent many years at the highest level of U.S. Open polo competition, and more recently has taught new players how to play as well. We’re already smitten with this sweet girl, and look forward to introducing her to everyone in the coming weeks! Many thanks to Harleigh Humphries for sharing this special horse with the program.
