Working with individuals with a variety of sensory needs and preferences, our team of music therapists tailors each session - and even the room itself - to make the client feel comfortable and ready for self-expression. This week, that meant decorating one of our session rooms with a low-light, calming look. This led to an energy filled session of movement and music!

This past weekend, A Place To Be hosted our Mindfulness Meetup, which also included tabletop games and pizza! We were joined by Nancy, a local yoga therapist, who led a guided mindfulness and movement exercise, and shared easy-to-use regulation tools. Following that clients engaged in peer-led tabletop games: Uno, Trouble, and Life! Thank you Nancy, for sharing your skills with A Place To Be!

World Down Syndrome Day is March 21st! In celebration, Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV) is hosting a week of events, starting on March 16th, with A Place To Be participating in a Dance Party on March 21st! This week of events will give opportunities to celebrate, advocate, and have fun in our local community!
