Great article on the ever-depressing state of EHR usage with doctors. Dr. Roy Smythe, Chief Medical Officer for AVIA Health, comments that with EHRs, healthcare is "a fundamentally different experience, particularly for those who have been practicing for decades." Smythe also says that "there's also this existential thing about technology getting between you and the patient, and it's real for a lot of doctors."
"Smythe does see some refinement on the horizon, such as voice recognition technology that would automatically record a patient visit and format the data in the EHR, allowing the physician to once again focus on the patient. That alone would be a game changer."
Smythe, however, doesn't see this happening anytime soon. EVOQ believes much to the contrary, as blynq is being used today to transform communities like Dothan, Alabama, where physicians can now document encounters using dictation and still satisfy requirements. As we continue to transform communities to be better, more efficient consumers and deliverers of healthcare, EVOQ will remain relentless at ensuring that Smythe's game changer becomes a reality for physicians and patients very, very soon.
Healthcare experts are weighing in on reasons for the results.
