With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jackie Hortense Buvens, age 79. He passed away in his home in Leesville, LA on November 30th, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his Father Louis G. Buvens and Mother Augusta Williams-Buvens.
Survived and deeply missed by his Daughters, JoAnna Marie Buvens-Williams and Lindsay Kate Buvens.
Grandchildren; Jakey Patrick Sepulvado, Blake Shane Baker, and Katie Claire Corley; his Brother, Jerry G. Buvens and Sister Linda Buvens-Butts;
Along with a host of extended family members and friends.
It was Jackie's wish for his life to be celebrated by those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Church Point, Louisiana- Mr. James Busby, 80, a native of Mallet, Louisiana and a resident of Church Point, Louisiana.
Mr. James was a kind man with a gentle heart. He had a way with people that they would never forget. He loved his family, and they loved him dearly. Missing him would be hard but remembering him would be something greatly cherished. James “Jim” Busby, born June 16, 1945, in Pot Cove, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on
November 27, 2025, at Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 80. He was the son of Purnell Busby and Edolia Dorsey Busby. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley
Busby; his children, Emond Brown, James Busby Jr., Elnor Busby, and Jeanette Marie Busby; and his siblings, Willard Broussard and his twin sister, Jeanette Busby Richard. He leaves
behind his daughter, Telieigia Busby; a host of grandchildren; his siblings, Floyd St. Endre, Loise “Marie” Guidry, and Katherine Thompson; and many extended family members and
friends who loved him dearly.
Raised in Pot Cove, La. Jim spent his early years working for and living with the Boy Fontenot family. He formed a lifelong bond with his best friend, Mr. Sherman Cravins of
Mallet, La. Jim built his life around hard work and helping others. He worked as a machine
operator in the agriculture industry and was also a skilled bricklayer, known for his steady
hands and dedication to every job he took on. He enjoyed working on machines and never
hesitated to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His quiet kindness, reliability, and strong
work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on December 6, 2025, at First Benjamin
Baptist Church, located at 4228 LA-357 in Opelousas, Louisiana. Viewing will take place from
8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Zion Travelers Cemetery in Mallet, La. Pastor Albert Tezano will officiate the funeral Services.
Jim’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those
who loved him.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday November 15, 2025 at 10:00 am at Golden Star Baptist Church 723 Anne Street in Eunice, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 8:00 am at the church. Interment will follow in Honeybee Cemetery in Eunice, Louisiana. Pastor Joseph Gardner will officiate the funeral service.

Mr. Donald Ray Malbrough, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and a resident of Church, Louisiana passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 13, 1957, in Church Point, Louisiana, Donald was the beloved son of Joseph and Mabel Citizen Malbrough. A proud resident of Church Point, Donald lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends. In December of 1978, he married the love of his life Charlene Domingeaux Malbrough, with whom he shared a remarkable journey filled with devotion, strength, and joy. Together, they built a family that was the center of Donald’s world. Donald was a force of nature, determinate to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in this world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of , Franscella, Brian, DJ and his wife Charlene, and he always tried his very best to support them.
The Coca Cola facility was his 2 nd home for many years, before retiring in 2014. He was a proud founder of Church Point Trail riders, a member of Hot Boys Motorcycle Club, and Lenora’s Helping Hands. He was passionate about his deer hunting, fishing, 4 wheelers, his lawnmowers and his ice chest.
Anyone who knew Donald knew that he was the most loving Father, grandfather and husband a family could ask for.

Donald was predeceased by two daughters, Tameka and Shadonna Malbrough; his parents, Joseph and Mabel Malbrough; father-in-law, Alex’ Pino’ Domingeaux; brothers-in-law, Rickey and Raymond Domingeaux; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife Charlene; his three children, Brian (Ashley), Donald Ray Malbrough Jr. ‘DJ’, and Franscella all of Church Point, Louisiana; Eight grandchildren, Jesiah, Jaden, Destiny, SPC Jaze, Chase, Christopher , Sidney and Nicholas; One Great-grandson that he was excitingly waiting to arrive in December, Jamir Kaizen Ray Gallien; Four Godchildren, Jason Henry, Shareka Malone, Malcolm Walker, Brandon Malbrough; His siblings, Larry (Charlene) Malbrough, Shirley (Martin) Guillory, and Carol Malbrough; His in laws, Linda (Artie) Malone, Debbie (Carol) Roy and Timmy (Marie) Domingeaux; Aunts, Theresa Price, Grace (Rufus) Espirit, and Veronica Cluse; and a host of nieces,

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday November 8, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church 693 N. Main Street Church Point, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. at the church until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 A.M.
Father Chrysanthus Ugori will officiate the funeral services.

Brother Leonard Davis was born on May 10, 1956, to the late
Bro. John Henry and Sis. Beulah Hopkins Davis. He attended the public schools in Vernon Parish.

“Lendell” loved his family and spent priceless and precious time with them. He also loved basketball, bowling, and playing pool.
On August 14, 2025, John answered the Master’s call to come home and rest from his earthly labor to his heavenly home. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters, and other close kindred.

Those left to cherish his memories, leaves four children, two daughters, Tonja and Angela Davis; two sons, Leonard Sr. and Jeffrey Davis; four sisters, Sharon Hawkins, Shirley Meeks, Beulah Lois Davis, and Cynthia Harris; He had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Remember this as a Celebration, A time to Rejoice, A time Celebrate!
“Lendell” is in a better place now…hard-headed and all. God has called him home. He knocked, he answered, and opened his soul. Rest in Peace now…To your journey on home.

Michelle was a gift from God, who never waived from her belief that God would take care of her and her needs. She loved her family and every stranger she met as if they were someone she had always known. Michelle's memories will always linger in her families heart forever as she will always be.

away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved
ones.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Rowe Funeral Home and Memorial Park 1352 Belview Road Leesville, Louisiana 71446.
A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home until the time of services.
Pastor Tony Swain will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 3348 University Parkway Fort Johnson, Louisiana, where she will unite with her beloved husband Vernon Jackson whom she loved so very dearly.
She was born on August 13, 1945, in Fitzgerald,
Georgia, to the late Naomi and Leroy Smith.
Erma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and
friend whose love and kindness touched everyone she
met. She married the love of her life, Vernon Jackson, Sr.,
and together they shared 59 beautiful years of marriage
until his passing.
Erma’s greatest accomplishments were found in the love
she gave to her family and community. She was a proud
and supportive wife, a nurturing mother, and a source of
strength for all who knew her. Alongside her husband,
Erma opened her heart and home as a foster parent,
providing love and care to many children over the years.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children:
Zetherneal Elizagarate, Vernon Jackson Jr., Veronica
Jackson-Camden, Pamela Swain, and Ashley Jackson, as
well as her honorary son, Ronnie Hinton. She is also
survived by two stepchildren: stepson Ronald Keith
Jackson and stepdaughter Vernell Taylor-Jackson; 15
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great
grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother King
Smith and her sister Loretta Smith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
Vernon Jackson, Sr., her parents, Naomi and Leroy Smith,
her sisters Gladys Willis and Betty Jean Smith, and her
brothers John Smith and Leroy Smith.
Erma will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her
gentle spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel loved
and supported. Her memory will forever live on in the
hearts of those who knew her
