This is 40 ! Not because it’s seamless and tropical 🌴 but rather I’ve conquered a decade of being drug free , alcohol free , living in purpose battling against all ideals and beliefs that have held me down . Raising children and navigating break up! Building a business and fighting every urge to give up . Trusting GOD , Being True to self, and knowing that I don’t need to prove I am or am not ! Joy : Also known as an act of resistance!

We played , laughed and smiled. We got a bit competitive but in a fun way ! We sat in community and chatted . It was light and cheerful. At the same time we acknowledged the trying times we are in while also saying you will not strip me of my JOY !

We acknowledge Nipmuc territory and all the hard work and Natives Americans have sacrificed while also rebuilding .We have a responsibility to be more aware .ALL PROCEEDS FROM EVENT ARE GOING TO !

WHAT A DECADE CAN DO !

This picture is from 2015 first KEEPING WORCESTER WARM EVENT !

I had rented a car that weekend to ensure that I could get my son and spend time with him and he could be involved in the volunteering. I was almost 9 months sober and just shy a week or so of my 30th birthday . I remember the excitement for both of us . We had collectively just spent 3 months collecting and sorting items and today would be the day we got to hand out the stuff . This to me is the moment when i decided I no longer wanted to be the person that just constantly took but instead could be present enough to give back and give back with no expectations. This was truly a pivotal time in my early recovery and I’m so indebted to KEEPING WORCESTER WARM for shaping me into who I am today !
