Meet Gloria Pardo, our employee spotlight of the month!

I have worked at The Meadows of Leipsic since October 2014 as an Environmental Services Associate. I was born in Lima and have lived in Belmore my entire life. I attended St. Mary’s for elementary school and later graduated from Leipsic High School.

My husband, Oscar, and I have been happily married for 42 years. We have two daughters, Adrienne (42) and Sonia (36), and seven beautiful grandchildren who bring us so much joy.
In my free time, I enjoy taking early morning walks, spending time with my family, and relaxing while watching my favorite soap operas.

One of my favorite things about working at The Meadows is being close to my family. I have had family members who have resided at the campus and what a wonderful experience it has been to be able stay close to them while working in a place I care about.

David has always had a deep love for his hometown and its high school sports teams. Growing up in Putnam County, he remembers how exciting it was whenever a local team made it to the state tournament – schools would close and entire communities would come together to support their athletes. It had been many years since the Kalida Wildcats boys basketball team advanced to the state level, and David often shared with staff and fellow residents how much he wished he could attend a state semifinal game. For him, it was more than just a game, it was an opportunity to reconnect with cherished memories and hometown pride. Through our Live a Dream program, that wish became a reality. Our Director of Plant Operations graciously volunteered to take David to Dayton to watch the Kalida boys compete in the state semifinals. From the moment the trip was planned, David eagerly anticipated the experience. On game day, dressed proudly in his Kalida gear, he was ready to cheer on his team. The Wildcats delivered an exciting victory, advancing to the state championship game. For David, the experience was unforgettable. He shared that it was one of the best days of his life, something he never imagined he would have the opportunity to do again. David continues to speak proudly about attending the game and sharing his experience with everyone at the campus. His story is a powerful reminder that when you have a deep love for your hometown, there is nothing quite like the joy of watching your team compete on the state stage. This is just one of the many examples of how people come to The Meadows of Leipsic to live!

Last Tuesday, our Independent Living residents got together to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by our Head Chef, Alisa. 💚🍽️

💙 Meet Nancy! 💙

Nancy has been part of our Assisted Living community for three years. When her daughter began searching for the right place, she wanted somewhere that felt supportive, welcoming, and trustworthy — and that’s exactly what Nancy found here.

What made this the right place to call home?

Nancy says it’s the people — the nurses, aides, and staff who are always helpful and supportive.

What does she enjoy most?

She loves the friendships she’s built with fellow residents and the connections she shares with staff each day. Nancy enjoys being part of a community where she feels included and valued. 💙

When it comes to support, she says the staff is always giving her courage and strength — something that has meant so much to her over the years.

And of course, she enjoys the food! 🍽️
Her favorites include roasted chicken, beef tips, and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. 😋

Nancy also looks forward to Bingo and spending time with friends.

When asked what she would tell someone considering Assisted Living, her answer was heartfelt:

💙 “You would enjoy it. Everyone is very helpful. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

She also shared kind words about our Executive Director, Madison, saying she is very nice and does a great job — something we’re proud to hear.

💙 Meet Sandy! 💙

Sandy has been part of our Health Center community since July of 2023. She first heard about our community while she was in the hospital, when her sister recommended looking into our facility.

What helped Sandy feel like this was the right place to call home?

She shares that once she got settled in, the staff helped her feel welcome right away. Before long, she says she felt comfortable, cozy, and truly at home. 🏡

What does Sandy enjoy most day-to-day?

She loves the activities, spending time with other residents, and the friendly atmosphere throughout the community. Sandy says everyone is always willing to help whenever it’s needed.

When it comes to support, she appreciates the help she receives with daily tasks and says that support helps her feel more relaxed and at ease.

And of course, she enjoys the food! 🍽️
Some of her favorite meals include meatloaf, rice with refried beans, and enchiladas — and she says dessert is always a highlight. 😋

Sandy also enjoys staying active with Bingo, arts and crafts, and outings like going out to eat at Western Sizzlin with friends.

When asked what she would tell someone considering moving into our Health Center, Sandy shared something that really stood out:

💙 “This place is different from other nursing homes in the best way. The staff treat the residents like family.”

She also shared appreciation for the care team, mentioning nurses Nick and Nate, along with the aides and therapy team who help make each day better.

💙 Meet Zella! 💙

Zella has been part of our Assisted Living community since September. Before that, she spent time in our Health Center for a short-term stay — and when it came time to decide her next step, she knew she wanted to remain part of our community.

What helped her decide?

She shares that she truly enjoys talking with the other residents and appreciates the welcoming atmosphere. For Zella, the strong sense of community made this place feel like home. 🏡

What does she enjoy most?

Arts and crafts 🎨, Bingo 🎉, and connecting with both residents and staff throughout the day. She says the friendly environment makes each day enjoyable.

When it comes to support, one thing Zella said really stood out to us:

💙 “The staff is very helpful with whatever you need — and you still have your independence.”

That balance of assistance and independence is exactly what Assisted Living is all about.
