Reach Out and Read is a national, non-profit organization that partners with pediatric clinics to provide new books and literacy education at well-child examinations. For 20 years, Leitchfield Pediatrics has provided the Reach Out and Read program to its patients, averaging 3,000 new books distributed annually to children 0 – 5 years of age. Studies show the most significant impact on a child’s school readiness is early childhood literacy. Through the Reach Out and Read program, Leitchfield Pediatrics educates caregivers on the criticality of reading to a child beginning at infancy while also providing free books for children to take home. This program is only funded partially through federal grants, with the remaining funds coming through community donations. Thank you for supporting a program that provides the children in our community a foundation for success!
