Lois Bernice Alan Keown was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, where she spent her childhood navigating challenges that left few happy or comforting memories. Despite the difficulties she faced growing up, Lois discovered early on that she had a remarkable artistic talent. As a child, her artwork was published in books and even displayed in a museum. She earned scholarships that recognized her gift, but she chose a different path for her life, one centered on family. She gave up those opportunities to get married and eventually become a mother.

In 1971, at just 17 years old, Lois married and began building the family she had always dreamed of. Her journey to motherhood was not easy. She struggled with infertility for many years until, in 1984, she welcomed her first child, a daughter. Just a little over ten months later, Lois gave birth again, this time to twin boys, completing the family she had fought so hard to have.

Lois spent the early years as a devoted stay-at-home mother before returning to work once her children started school. She worked at IMS and later at Trim Masters, where she remained until the company closed. No matter where she worked or what challenges life placed in her path, Lois was known for her strength, her quiet resilience, and her unwavering dedication to her family.

She had simple joys that made her smile: she loved chicken and dumplings, her own recipe was famous for being the very best, and she adored the music of Freddy Fender. Her husband often jokes that if Lois had ever met Freddy Fender before meeting him, she might have chosen the musician instead. Her laughter at that tease had been just one of the many ways she shows her warmth and humor.

Lois is blessed with three children and eight grandchildren, each of whom holds a special place in her heart. More than anything in her life, Lois loves husband, her children and grandchildren fiercely and unconditionally.
