Congratulations to Justin Gordon, our January Employee of the Month. Justin goes above and beyond, not only for our residents, but also his coworkers. In 2025 Justin organized and successfully executed two community events raising awareness and obtaining donations for our employee emergency fund. Resident Life Story: John H. Ewing III (Jack)

John H. Ewing III, known to most as Jack, grew up in the small country town of Greensburg, Kentucky. He remembers it as a close-knit community, with Dumas Walker’s restaurant being a local favorite—so well known it was even mentioned in a country song. One of Jack’s fondest childhood memories is getting his first dog, a moment that has stayed with him throughout his life.

As a young man, Jack enjoyed staying active. His favorite hobbies included skiing, boating, hiking, and participating in 5K walks. He attended the University of Kentucky and later worked as an International Harvester agricultural agent, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and connection to the land.

When it comes to food, Jack jokes that he enjoys eating just about anything, but if he had to choose a favorite meal, it would be a classic beef roast with mashed potatoes. Family has always been important to him. Jack is the proud father of four children, has two stepdaughters, and is a grandfather to eleven grandchildren.

Every Sunday, Jack faithfully attended Sunday School, even though he preferred not to stay for the full church service. One story that truly captures Jack’s determination happened when he was around ten or eleven years old. While riding a horse, he fell and broke his arm. Despite the injury, Jack was determined to get back on the horse and finish the ride home before being taken to the doctor, where his arm was placed in a cast. This moment reflects the perseverance and strong will that have defined Jack throughout his life.
