Hey everyone — thank you so much for your patience and support of Hickman’s Pharmacy.

I wanted to let you know we may have some altered hours this week due to the weather and because I’m recovering from surgery to repair the root of my right knee meniscus. I’m in week two of recovery and plan to be back working in the pharmacy by Saturday.

Right now, weather and bridge conditions are also affecting travel for our staff pharmacists who live in Wilmington. Staff safety has to come first, and legally we must have a pharmacist physically present to open and operate.

Our goal is to be open every day we safely can, but we may open later or close earlier depending on conditions. We’ll keep everyone updated as best we can.

If there is a true medical emergency, you can email me at weshickman@gmail.com and I’ll do my best to help or point you in the right direction.

I guess even the vaccinator gets sick sometimes. We just wanted to let everyone know ASAP we have to change our hours for Christmas Eve due to my illness. We will be open 9am-12pm on Christmas Eve rather than our planned 9am-2pm shift. Mrs. Gail was kind enough to help me out to keep the store open for a few hours even though she had family plans already. We should be open at 10am on 12/26 and I will keep everyone posted here (and on our answering machine) if there are any changes. We are so sorry for the inconvenience.

We will be operating with amended hours on Friday January 21th and Saturday January 22nd due to the approaching ice storm. Our anticipation is to be open from 9am to 2pm on Friday and closed on Saturday (weather permitting). We will update as the weather situation becomes more clear in the morning. Stay safe!

It is open enrollment season for Medicare and we are happy to say patients in North Carolina have a choice in which pharmacy they use starting 2022. We have a no cost, licensed insurance agent in the store today (10/12/21) to help you sign up for Medicare part D from 9am-5pm. Mr. Ron is one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve ever met when it comes to insurance plans. Let him help you navigate your path to good insurance coverage!

After a long wait, we finally have Endit back in stock! For those that aren't familiar with this product, it is the best skin protectant on the market. It is great for diaper rash, heat rash, or most skin irritations that are related to friction. It was made by Mr. Douglas Roycroft, RPh in Shallotte, NC back in 1967 and is still used by UNC hospitals and New Hanover Regional Medical Center hospital. Get it while supplies last!

According to CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, we are happy to announce that they have lifted the mask mandate for fully vaccinated individuals while indoors! We are also happy to announce our entire staff is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 so we will be lifting the mask mandate for the store this afternoon. We do respectfully ask that those that are not vaccinated to still wear their mask while indoors (until we reach herd immunity) as we have no way to verify each persons vaccination status. We also are still providing the Moderna vaccine to those patients 18 and up, so feel free to call and schedule an appointment today.
