Perfect example of meeting the client where they’re at and choosing person-centered care🙌🏻

When I arrived at my client’s home today, she immediately showed me a new perfume she was just gifted. Using INTENT🗣️, she then listed off many names of fragrances in her collection, and shared a brief story about a couple of her favorites. I couldn’t believe the details she provided, and with such enthusiasm😆

Can you believe this is less than half of her perfume collection? 🤯

What a day, and what an honor to speak at this year’s Midwest Chapter Parkinson’s Symposium!

Having one-on-one conversations with so many members of the Parkinson’s community, meeting Dr. Aaron Malina, and advocating for our profession were just a few highlights.

I hope today’s topic on speech, mood and cognition continues to pave the way for accessible and necessary speech/voice, cognitive-communication and swallowing services for those affected by PD.

It’s been a(long)while, so I wanted to introduce myself for those who are new around here👋🏻

-I’m Christine, owner of Neuro Speech Connections, a specialty speech pathology practice for adults in Chicagoland. I founded NSC in the spring of 2021, and went public in early 2022.

-My purpose and drive was to offer accessible care for adults with acquired neurological disorders or neurodegenerative conditions in the west and southwest Chicagoland suburbs.

-In the last year and a half, I’m proud to say we’ve grown from less than part-time to a busy, full-time practice.

-I’m passionate about person-centered and holistic speech therapy, advocating for those with chronic conditions, and spreading knowledge about the scope of adult SLPs.

-My husband and I live in the west Chicago suburbs. We have two beautiful daughters (ages 3 and 5) who keep us very busy. I love setting an example for them on compassion, hard work and determination.

-I learn something new and am humbled by my clients and my work daily. I have BIG dreams for the future, and can’t wait for what’s next!
