This Autism Acceptance Month, we’re celebrating the power of advocacy and love. Matt Thompson is the 27-year-old brother of our Program Specialist Katie Green and he reminds us that acceptance means ensuring that everyone belongs and has the support they need to thrive:
"The truth about autism is that I am loved by my family and friends and that I am well supported."

We’re grateful to have Katie bringing her lived experience to our work building a more inclusive world.

This Autism Acceptance Month, we’re celebrating the power of advocacy and love. Our Lead Program Specialist, Kristen Turner, shares her perspective on what it means to grow up with a sibling with autism:

“My brother Daniel is the reason I see the world the way I do. Watching him navigate systems that did not always support him inspired me to be part of that change. He taught me patience, empathy, and that people are far more than any label placed on them. This Autism Acceptance Month, let’s commit to not just understanding autism, but building a world where every individual is included and valued.” – Kristen Turner

We’re grateful to have Kristen using her experience to help us build a world where people with autism are truly valued and celebrated.

We’re excited to announce that Josh Whitney has joined the Include Me team as a Program Specialist! Prior to this, he was an elementary teacher and he also has experience in business management and HR. In this new role, Josh will support schools in building more inclusive environments for students with disabilities. He will partner with schools to strengthen things like SDIs, classroom supports, and practical strategies that work day-to-day. He is already blending his education and systems-thinking background in a meaningful way.

Josh’s favorite part of the job so far is delivering professional development to school staff. He enjoys getting in front of teams, connecting with educators and school staff, and sharing tools and resources in an engaging way so that they can be used right away. He has also enjoyed getting to know the rest of the incredible Include Me team.

When Josh is not working, he can be found singing, coaching youth sports, or spending time with his wife and three kids. He also loves getting away to Florida whenever he can. His favorite food is the peanut butter fudge made by his 11-year-old daughter.

Welcome to the team, Josh!

The Arc of Pennsylvania is seeking a qualified researcher or research organization to conduct an evaluation of our Include Me program (IM). The mission of IM is to develop, support, and enhance disability inclusive practices across Pennsylvania. We partner with school districts to create a comprehensive plan that meets the unique needs of the district, teachers, and families. The Arc of Pennsylvania is seeking proposals from qualified individuals or organizations to conduct an external evaluation of the data collection tools and processes currently used in the IM initiative.

April 2 is World Autism Day! The United Nations observes this day to celebrate and promote the rights and freedoms for autistic people across the globe. This year, the theme is: “Autism and Humanity — Every Life Has Value.” It’s a call to action to move beyond limiting narratives and to recognize the inherent dignity, equal rights, and unconditional worth of every autistic person. How will you celebrate autism awareness and acceptance today?

Today we celebrate National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day – and all the incredible people who make inclusive education possible. Strong schools need strong support systems, and paraprofessionals are at the heart of both. Thank you to every paraprofessional for your compassion and dedication, and for making inclusion happen!
