Have you ever been to a therapy office where you walked in and felt connected to the decor of the room. Where everything in it embodied the experience you were desiring to have? Well here at SOZO Therapy Group we understand the importance of decor and how it can make a client feel when they walk into the room. We know that there is power in creating a space where people can look around and find something that catches their eye. This is also a type of grounding. When we let our eyes move from thing to thing and we notice, we are allowing our bodies to focus outside of ourselves. This inherently causes us to take our energy and attention away from what’s burdening us. Some of our therapists begin the sessions like this. Creating space for the client to slow down and refocus before entering into the therapeutic process. At first I can feel a little odd to do this, but over time it will become a natural response when there is a sense of overwhelm. We teach our bodies to look outward and slow down.
