This is a period of the year where throwing is limited and/or shut down completely. Historically, this process came naturally as baseball players spent their offseasons playing other sports, but as the full-year schedule has become common, a scheduled break is necessary.
A shutdown allows the body, specifically the arm, to recover from the year of throwing and provides the athlete with the time to improve their athletic foundation and come back better next season.
This period will entail a combination of medicine ball throws, core and shoulder strengthening, and power development. We aim to address the weaknesses most athletes struggle with, and cannot fix over the course of their in-game spring, summer, and fall seasons.
