Your piriformis is an external rotating muscle that helps stabilize the hip, and sits right above your Sciatic nerve - it can get irritated from chronic sitting, tightness, and muscle imbalances.

Tension in this muscle can irritate your Sciatic nerve, which can send painful signals down your leg.
