KC Bariatric has been in practice since 2002, providing weight loss surgery care to thousands of patients in the metropolitan Kansas City and surrounding mid-west areas. We provide patient education, full preoperative evaluation of each patient's mental and physical health, coordination of care, assistance with insurance issues, and post-operative support groups in order to help ensure the safety

and success of our patients. Weight loss surgery is not cosmetic surgery, nor does it actually "remove" a patient's excess weight. It is a TOOL that assists in weight loss and weight maintenance for patients who are 100 or more pounds overweight and who have failed weight loss through traditional dietary and behavior modifications. If you or someone you love is obese, you know how difficult life can be. Excess weight impacts your health, your self-esteem, and your relationships. People with obesity are at greater risk for serious health conditions such as high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and diabetes. When diet and exercise aren't working, it may seem like there is no hope. At KC Bariatric, we specialize in providing alternatives for the care and treatment of obesity and its related co-morbidities in the forms of Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and LapBand Gastric Banding Surgeries. If you are considering the decision to undergo weight loss surgery, you'll want to educate yourself on these life-changing procedures. We are here to answer all of your questions and to determine if you are a candidate for surgery through our program.

Not all weight loss happens at the same time - and understanding the timeline can make all the difference.

Before surgery, many patients start seeing results during the pre-op liquid diet. After surgery, weight loss continues as your body adjusts and heals - this is where the real transformation begins.

Every phase has a purpose. Every step moves you closer to better health.

Journey Bariatric Vitamins were thoughtfully created by the surgeons at KC Bariatric to meet the specific nutritional needs of bariatric patients - not just general wellness. After surgery, your body absorbs nutrients differently, which means standard over-the-counter vitamins often aren’t enough.

That’s why Journey is formulated with the right balance of essential nutrients like iron, B12, calcium, and more - to help support energy levels, hair and skin health, bone strength, and overall recovery long-term.
Whether you’re newly post-op or years into your journey, consistent, high-quality supplementation is key to feeling your best and protecting your results.

"My name is Caren, and I am approaching my one-year surgery anniversary with KC Bariatric. At my highest weight, I was close to 400 lbs. On surgery day, I was 305, and today I am just over 200.
Weight loss surgery has been one of the hardest and most worthwhile decisions I have ever made. It gave me a tool that quite literally saved my life.
However, one of the most important parts of my journey has been something that isn’t talked about enough: transfer addiction. I spent years using food as a coping mechanism. When that outlet was no longer available after surgery, I discovered how quickly those underlying emotional struggles can transfer to something else.
During that period, I stopped following my bariatric care plan. I neglected my vitamins, struggled to maintain proper nutrition, and although I appeared functional on the outside, my physical and emotional health were declining. I could feel the toll it was taking on my overall well-being. Through support, accountability, and recovery programs, I was able to confront those patterns and return to the healthy path I began with surgery. Today, I am back to prioritizing my nutrition, my mental health, and the long-term lifestyle changes that bariatric surgery requires.
KC Bariatric gave me the opportunity to reclaim my physical health, but it was my recovery community, support groups, and the people who walked alongside me who helped me claw my way out of addiction and stay on this path of healing."
