I have been meaning to post this for a while, but social media is not my forte! I recently finished the Oral Habilitation of the Breastfeeding Dyad Master Class and am really excited about how this has changed my practice over the last year and what it means for the families I support.
So…what does this mean for you?
It means I’ve spent the last year learning to understand how a baby’s oral function develops and how that affects feeding, comfort, and bonding from birth. Feeding isn’t just about latch. It engages the full body system: tongue, jaw, palate, nervous system, and whole-body coordination, working together so feeding can be efficient and comfortable for BOTH of you.
Oral habilitation is about restoring function, not just compensations for individual symptoms!
If you’re experiencing painful feeds, clicking, a shallow latch, slow weight gain, or you suspect your baby might have a lip or tongue tie…this training gave me the tools to support you with a more complete, gentle, baby-led approach.
Feeding shouldn’t hurt. It shouldn’t feel like a fight. But when it does, comprehensive support means you're not fighting alone!
If you’re working through feeding challenges, or just want to be sure everything is on track, I’m happy to come out to your home and meet you where you are. Send me a message or book a consult on my website, and we’ll work to optimize feeding for your baby, your body, and your goals.
