The holidays can be especially hard on children after losing someone close to them. We will be hosting a Surviving the Holidays session specifically for kids aged 7 to 16 here at the Hospice House on December 6th at 9am.

Activities will include various crafts and hands-on experiences interspersed with talks about how they can work through their grief during this complicated season.

We know the holidays can be a tough time, especially after losing someone close to you. To try and help you through this season, will be hosting a special group called Surviving the Holidays here at our Hospice House on Saturday, November 22nd from 9-11am.

This particular session will be geared towards adults, as we will have one for the kiddos starting in December.

Our 8-Week series "Understanding Your Grief" will be returning once again on Monday, October 6th.
Join our bereavement coordinator to discuss the nature of grief and deepen your understanding of what happens during the grieving process. The support group will meet each Monday starting the 6th from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

Wellness Therapy

Sherrye is a graduate of George Washington University with a Masters of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health. She also received a post graduate degree Certificate in Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. As a bereaved mother and a trained therapist, she has a personal and clinical understanding of traumatic loss and the difficult issues facing those grieving the deaths of loved ones.

Sherrye has been trained in trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and Compassionate Bereavement Care (CBC). She works with individuals, families and groups and she has professional and personal experience of psychosocial issues related to the impact of loss, ADHD, and emotional regulation. Areas of interest include women’s health issues such as infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, traumatic birth experiences, birth and parenting after loss, loss as a result of su***de and other traumatic injuries, life transitions. Children and adolescent interests include loss of a parent due to divorce and other factors, anxiety, depression, and self-regulation. Sherrye is a member of the ACA (American Counseling Association) and LCPCM (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors of Maryland).

Sherrye uses Mindfulness based CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as her main theoretical approaches and walking the path with you as you experience deep and sometimes dark emotions and learn to acknowledge them and manage them.
