At our practice, where we prioritize airway health, we believe there’s much more to the conversation! Here’s one of our patients that had conventional retractive orthodontics with premolar extractions as a teenager and was struggling with airway issues as an adult, and even had an undiagnosed tongue tie! We understand that removable expansion in adults has limitations, but this patient was thrilled with her non-surgical expansion results.

While some experts assert that the palatal suture closes more rapidly than we think, our experience shows it may remain flexible longer than traditional beliefs suggest and timing varies. This revelation opens up exciting avenues for improving airway function and overall dental health in adults!

🌟 Myth Busting: Infant Tongue Tie Release 🌟

🍼 We hear it every day from the parents of our most precious patients - they are often told that babies with a tongue tie will simply “grow out of it.” However, this myth can lead to prolonged struggles with breastfeeding and development.

✨ Here’s the truth: Tongue tie (ankyloglossia) can impact feeding, sleep, oral development, and even speech later in life. Early identification and treatment can make a significant difference for babies (and their mamas). Our oldest patient that we have treated was 75 years old and she did not grow out of her tongue tie.

💡 If you notice your little one struggling to latch during breastfeeding or if they seem to have difficulty moving their tongue, trust your motherly/ parental instinct. It’s crucial to consult a healthcare professional that has specialized training on how to properly identify tethered oral tissues.
