In Loving Memory of James Roberson
James Maury Roberson, 77, of Lepanto, Arkansas, was born on August 24th, 1948 and passed away in Jonesboro, Arkansas on February 5th, 2026 leaving behind a family forever shaped by his love and presence.
James was a man who took care of his family—always. He didn’t just love with words; he loved with consistency, steadiness, and presence. He was loving, proud, and deeply giving, the kind of man who made sure everyone else was in a good place. A little cheeky, wonderfully opinionated, and a captivating storyteller, James had a way of making moments feel safe and familiar, a comfort his family will forever miss. Whether it was football playing in his presence, a cup of coffee in his hand, or a home-cooked meal on the table, being near him felt like home.
The youngest of eight children, born to Verna and Henry Roberson, James learned early the importance of standing by your people. He met the love of his life, Linda, while working as a bus driver, and from the moment they married on May 6, 1974, they built a life centered on commitment, hard work, and love. Together, they raised four children—Jerry Highland (Lisa) of Newport News Virginia, Spring Guth (John) of Marked Tree Arkansas, Samuel Roberson of Lepanto Arkansas, and Kimberly Meier (Troy) of Centennial Colorado—who were his greatest pride. Linda was called to the Lord on February 17th, 2010. James was dedicated to filling in the tempestuous and yearning void that she left.
James was a grandfather to Jacob Roberson, Brittany Holcomb, Autumn Meier, Zachary Meier, Savannah Roberson, Kaitlin Highland, and Casey Highland. He didn’t have to be present in every moment to be there when it truly mattered. When his children and grandchildren needed him, James showed up—steadfast, dependable, and unwavering. His love was shown through action, consistency, and being counted on, and that love will never be forgotten. His joy and love only grew when he became a great-grandfather to Everleigh Holcomb, Lainey Holcomb, and Bentley Brady. James also leaves behind his very good friend: Diane Maness of Memphis, Tennessee. His eyes always lit up for his family, and no distance could lessen the depth of his love.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, James honorably served his country for 24 years in the United States Army and National Guard as a Communications Specialist. Though his service took him far from home at times, his heart never left his family. His career gave his family memories that they will deeply cherish in their hearts forever; where the whole family was together dominating the neighborhood and making waves. He was deeply proud of his military career, of quitting smoking, and most of all of the life he built, one grounded in responsibility, resilience, and love.
James Roberson will be missed in the small, everyday moments: the stories that won’t be retold by his voice, the chair that now sits empty, the room with less laughter, the missing hugs that reminded everyone of his love, the unconditional support that came so instinctively from him. His love lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—and in every life he touched simply by being himself.

Brother Jerry Kausler was called home by God on January 19, 2026. He passed peacefully in his sleep at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee, after suffering several strokes that left him unable to carry on as a servant to God and to those around him.

Jerry was born in Festus, Missouri, on August 26, 1942 according to his mother — though later in life the government corrected this to August 27 (lol). During his early childhood, his family moved frequently while his father served in World War II. Around the age of 12 or 13, Jerry left home and began a life training and breaking horses. Later he began working with Thoroughbreds as an exercise boy at numerous race tracks across the country.

While on the Thoroughbred racing circuit, Jerry met the Fires family, who encouraged him to visit Rivervale, Arkansas. It was there that he met Shirley Clay, the love of his life. Jerry and Shirley were married on December 23, 1964. They continued working with racehorses and eventually settled in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where their only son, David Kausler, was born in 1969.

Soon afterward, Jerry and Shirley left the racetrack life and returned to Rivervale. Jerry worked various jobs before surrendering his life to the ministry, answering God’s call to serve. In 1974, Jerry and Shirley attended Southern Baptist College (Williams Baptist University) in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Despite having completed only the sixth grade earlier in life, Jerry went on to earn an associate degree and completed several seminary courses.

Jerry faithfully served as pastor at Alicia Baptist Church, Cord Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Marked Tree, and First Baptist Church of Leachville, Arkansas, before finishing his pastoral career at Harrisburg, where he later retired. Even after retirement, he continued supply preaching for several years, until declining health prevented him from traveling.

In 2019, Jerry and Shirley moved in with their son David and daughter-in-law Anna when they could no longer live independently. Jerry remained there until his passing, missing Shirley every single day after her death.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Kausler; his mother, Elva Kausler; his father, Lilburn Kausler; and his siblings Charlotte Kausler; Faye (Bud) Russell; Pete (Judy) Kausler; Bill (Alberteen) Kausler; Sue (Joe) Boyd; and Norma (Paul) Primo.

He is survived by his son David (Anna) Kausler; his grandchildren Jake (Kendall) Kausler of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Drew Kausler of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jerry developed deep and lasting relationships everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Many lives were changed through his friendship, love, and faithful service to God. He leaves behind a powerful legacy as a devoted Christian servant and a man with a heart full of love for others.

A Funeral service will be held at Rivervale Baptist Church on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. and visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. til service time. Burial will follow service at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto.
