The Dangers of Purchasing Peptides Labeled “For Research Use Only”
Peptides are becoming increasingly popular for energy, metabolism, recovery, and anti-aging — but not all peptides are safe or legal.
Many websites and individuals are selling peptides labeled “for research purposes only” or “not for human consumption.”
🚫 These are not FDA-approved, not sterile, and not regulated for medical use — which means they are unsafe for injection or ingestion.
💉 The Dangers of Unregulated Peptides
🧫 Contamination Risk: Unregulated peptides may contain bacteria, heavy metals, or fillers that can cause severe infection or toxicity.
⚖️ Incorrect Dosing: Many products are mislabeled or under/over-dosed, leading to unpredictable results or hormone imbalance.
❌ No Oversight: Without licensed medical supervision and lab monitoring, users are at high risk for liver stress, heart complications, or endocrine disruption.
⚠️ Legal Consequences:
Selling or distributing peptides without a healthcare license is illegal and may lead to FDA, DEA, or State Medical Board investigation or prosecution.
🧾 Where to Report Illegal Peptide Sales
If you suspect a person or company is selling unapproved or unsafe peptides:
🔹 FDA MedWatch:
Reporting on prescription/OTC medicines, non-vaccine biologicals, medical devices, special nutritional products, cosmetics and non-prescription human drug.
