Many high-functioning adults turn to stimulants to bridge the gap between their actual energy and the world's unrelenting expectations. But relying on them in midlife is like taking out an expensive loan against your nervous system.

Focus is the ultimate goal for everyone. However, relying on stimulants in midlife is like taking out a loan against your nervous system. Despite providing immediate "cash," it is astronomically expensive. As the bill arrives, chronic anxiety, internalized burnout, and exhaustion manifest.

Patients with prolonged ICU stays are more likely to experience anxiety, depression, or long-term psychological problems. However, therapeutic walks and supervised patient transfers to outdoor settings are part of humanized care for critically ill patients.

Therapeutic walks for selected ICU patients are linked to improved mood, lower anxiety, and depression, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being during prolonged critical care.

A new study shows that text therapy is just as effective as video-based therapy due to the convenience of being able to respond and interact with your therapist at any time of the day.

While video sessions build stronger bonds, text-based therapy offers a practical alternative that can fit into daily life.

As Dr. Elder explains in our most recent blog post, improving co-parent communication doesn't require revisiting the past or mending a relationship that has ended. It's about recalibrating the system you share as parents, not reestablishing the bonds you once shared as partners, that you check in with each other in January.

Improved co-parent communication does not require revisiting the past or repairing a broken relationship. You should check in with each other in January to recalibrate the parents' system, not to restore your emotional bonds.

Finally, some good news.

Sweeping cuts to mental health and addiction programs worth more than $2 billion are being reversed. After a political backlash from Republicans and Democrats, the grant money will be restored.

We are excited to announce the launch of a new initiative called Voices of Recovery: a project designed to reduce stigma, highlight real recovery stories, and connect our community to help and hope.

Too often, substance use and recovery are talked about in whispers, stereotypes, or headlines. This project is about changing that narrative by centering the people who live it, support it, and walk alongside it every day.

As we build and launch this project, there will be several ways to participate:
Attend a workshop: Join us in Lewes for a stigma-reduction workshop to learn more about substance use, recovery, and how to support people in your life.

Come to a virtual gallery event: Tune in, listen, and hold space for the stories being shared.

Share the project: Forward our emails, share posts, and invite others to attend. Sometimes one shared link is the bridge someone needs.

Share your story or art: As the project develops, we’ll share more information about how people with lived experience can contribute writing, poetry, or artwork to the exhibit.

Reach out to us today for more information!

We’re excited to share some big news!

Psilocybin, or magic mushrooms, leads the race to commercialize psychedelic medicine. Following the FDA's rejection of MDMA-assisted therapy in 2024, psilocybin is now being reviewed as a depression treatment.

Psilocybin-assisted therapy is legal in three states, but access has so far been limited and expensive.

In 2023, the median visit time in an ER was 163 minutes, which refers to door-to-door or door-to-bed time, not wait time. The median visit time in Delaware's emergency department was 216 minutes, which ranked fifth out of all states and Washington, D.C.

A trip to the emergency department is usually a time-consuming ordeal, especially in Delaware where the visit time is the fifth worst in the nation.

January brings dual pressure for many of us. Despite our best intentions, financial hangovers frequently follow the holiday season, even though we want to start the new year off right. The cold, grey days of winter and credit card statements make self-care seem unnecessary.

Sustaining your well-being doesn't require expensive spa retreats or complex wellness gadgets. In January and throughout the rest of the year, you can keep your peace by making intentional, low-cost changes to your lifestyle.
