PS. Would you LOOK at this Brachiosaurus Altithorax! Her/His ACLs were probably the size of my forearms, and each set of erector spinae was probably wider around than my body! Those Muscles are AMAZING!!!

On my way to the Oncology Massage Therapy Summit in Minneapolis! I was up early, but couldn't sleep a wink on the plane to Chicago... It was my first chance in months to download pages of ideas and questions that have been percolating, but haven't been committed to paper. Excited to see what unfolds!

Every now and then, there's something worth posting. Today it's spending the day immersed in oncology massage with some of the best & brightest. Thank you, instructors, Tracy Walton & Associates, LLC and friends, and to all the surprising number of therapists doing this work in hospitals. You make my heart and my mind braver, fuller & wiser.

Slowly, Slowly, massage therapy is being considered a valuable compliment to the continuum of care. I find this very encouraging and am thrilled for Beth Terhune and Bambi Mathay. I hope both of them continue to receive all the support they need for the good work they are doing in the Boston area.

Medical students launched a program that provides hand massages for patients undergoing infusion procedures.

How great it is that my job aligns with my purpose. I think there are a lot of LMTs who feel this way, and that's so special. I just finished an Oncology Massage Mentorship program with Tracy Walton & Associates, LLC that helped reiterate this for me. Then yesterday I found this graphic that captures it perfectly.

Have to share love for my partner in crime, Maria Phipps, LMT. Though she's not much for Facebook, she offers lovely massages for people living with or without cancer in Lewiston and in Bridgton, Maine. She was recently interviewed for an article about how massage can help people living with scars.

If surgery is part of your cancer treatment plan, you can expect to develop scar tissue. Here to explain more about how massage can help cancer patients living with scars is Oncology Massage Therapist Maria Phipps.

An interesting and thorough article from a breast cancer survivor about some of the ways massage following her mastectomy was supportive to her. A good read for LMTs as it contains some great breakdowns of the conditions a post-mastectomy client may experience. http://www.breasthealing.com/mastectomy-massage-2/

Mastectomy massage is one of the most proactive things that you can do for yourself during recovery and beyond. Mastectomy massage truly empowers.

Interesting food for thought about the connection between statin use and muscle pain: "... the manufacturers of statins recommend that "any patient taking a statin should be advised to report promptly any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness." Read on to find out why.

Author: Deborah Pate. Title: Statins Myotosis - A Not-So-Rare Cause of Muscle Pain. Summary: It is not uncommon for patients with muscle pain to end up in a chiropractic office, either by referral from another clinician or by self-referral.

My sister's lawn. Raking today. When raking I am a woman obsessed. Not in a competitive way, but rather a contemplative one. It is one of the most satisfying things in the world to me to turn around and see a clear, clean space empty of clutter and debris. It reflects my inner landscape, more open and uncluttered by the end. In my next life, I want to come back as a zen monk, whose sole purpose is to tend to outer and inner landscapes, to make room for myself and others to open to possibilities beyond our suffering.
