There's just something about trekking through the woods after fresh fallen snow that reminds me of renewal. Yesterday our Yoga Outdoors crew went to Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park and were blessed with the incredible beauty of new snow dressing the trees and the rocks in a blanket of clarity. In the quiet solitude of the woods, we could reconnect more peacefully to ourselves, clear the mind for a few hours in nature, and allow our hearts to be healed, if just for a morning.
When we emerged from the woods, still slightly shrouded by the cloudiness of the sky, my silent wish for the sun to greet us slowly came to fruition. As we took the Casco Bay Trail, a light from the overcast sky began to push through, and as we stood by the overlook, the shrouded orb of yellow cast it's glimmer upon the coastal waters. The light danced ever so slightly and cast a gentle reflection.
As we stood on the rocky shoreline, we silenced our voices and connected to the sounds of the rising tide. Each trickle, each swirl around the rocks reminded us of the flow of life. We moved in silent walking meditation from the shores to the field for our Snowga practice. When our yoga stretching and breathing practice came to its end, the sun retreated, and the maya, or cloudy illusion, blanketed the sky. Yet, within each person's eyes was a shining light and a broad smile.
Like the light above, we too have a radiant light deep within each of us. Sometimes life gets cloudy and we too feel dimmed. Hope, however, is like the small spark that rekindles the flame of our inner luminosity. Nature is a constant reminder that situations and circumstances are ever changing. However, with reconnection to our primordial selves, and a flicker of hope, our inner light provides the clarity we need to guide us through the difficult times.
May your inner light and the sparkling of hope see you through the days ahead.
