I’ve been there.  Teaching 12-13 fitness classes a week, achy joints, tracking all of those 1300 calories, puffyAF and even moodier.

Yesterday, I competed in my very first DEKA Strong

A 10-station endurance + strength competition that tests every ounce of grit you’ve got.

Most people went in as teams.
I went solo.
(One of only two women to do it that way. 💪)

And while I’d been training, I didn’t have access to all the equipment DEKA throws at you. So I simulated what I could… and showed up anyway.

There were moments

Hello, air bike from hell

Where I honestly wasn’t sure I could keep pushing.

But my timer, , was coaching me the entire way. His voice kept me moving when my legs and lungs wanted to quit.

And the crowd — strangers — yelling my name, cheering me through each station?

That energy carried me. LIFTED me.

And it hit me… this is life.

You can’t get where you’re going if you’re just winging it.

Cheesecake Breakfast Bowl
Servings: 3

Crumble
• 1/3 cup rolled oats
• 3 tbsp ground flaxseed
• 3 tbsp almond meal or powder or 3 tbsp PB Fit
• 1-2 tsp cinnamon
• 1-3 tbsp maple syrup or monk fruit syrup or raw honey
• 1.5 tbsp coconut oil (melted) or almond butter (for binding)
Cheesecake Filling:
• 1 container firm organic tofu
• 3 servings vanilla protein powder
• 1 lemon, juiced (freshly squeezed)
• 1-2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1–2 tsp sweetener (maple syrup, monk fruit, raw honey or stevia to taste)
• Pinch of sea salt (enhances flavor)
• Optional: 3 tsp chia seeds (for added texture and fiber)Topping:

Make the Crumble: In a medium bowl, combine oats, ground flax, almond meal, cinnamon, and sweetener. Stir in the melted coconut oil (or almond butter) and mix until everything is well combined. The mixture should hold together when pressed. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a blender or food processor, blend tofu, vanilla protein powder, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and sweetener until smooth and creamy. May need to add some almond milk or non-dairy creamer to desired consistency. Taste and adjust sweetness or lemon juice to your preference.

Evenly distribute the filling to 3 containers and distribute crumble.

I roasted apples in a 400 degree oven for approximately 10 minutes. The apples were sprayed with coconut oil and topped with Ceylon cinnamon and little raw honey. Could use coconut sugar, too.

Chill & Serve:
For best results, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to set. This can be made the night before for an easy grab-and-go breakfast, post-workout meal or bedtime snack.

Apparently, the only thing scarier than a strongAF midlife woman....

Is her breakfast.

Got flagged by airport security this morning… for my tofu “cheesecake.”

Apparently, it looked suspicious. 🤨

He pulled it out, asked questions, and I’m over here like,

“Sir, that’s 50 grams of hormone-balancing, blood-sugar-stabilizing, fiber-filled POWER in a jar.”

He didn’t look convinced.

His loss. My gain. (Literally, muscle gain 😜 I am cracking myself up today -- sleep deprived!)

Here’s the thing, ladies👇

Your first meal of the day isn’t just breakfast.
It’s your first act of hormone balance for the day.

When you start with protein and fiber, you:
💪🏽 Stabilize cortisol + blood sugar (bye, mid-morning crash)
🔥 Keep metabolism humming long-term
🧠 Support estrogen metabolism, mood + focus
🍽️ Reduce cravings and “I’ll eat the whole pantry” moments later

So whether it’s tofu “cheesecake,” eggs/egg whites (remember, 1 egg only has 6 g protein!), smoothie or a protein oats bowl,

Do not skip the meal that sets your hormones, energy, and mood up to win the damn day.

Not eating until noon....not a good idea if you are a woman 40+. Release the IF eating window. Please.

Now excuse me while I eat my “contraband” and keep glowing. ✨

Until now. I truly hope this feels like good news.

You don't have to settle for a closet full of clothes that fit uncomfortably. Lackluster energy. Waning confidence. Declining mental clarity that scares the 💩 out of you. Paying attention to your refined sugar intake is a super impactful strategy as a midlife woman.

And guess what?
Refined sugar is not limited to sweets.

Check those labels.
1. Look for added sugar grams.
2. Read the ingredients. Where is the added sugar coming from?

It can be found in dressings, sauces, condiments, yogurts and more. Food manufacturers take advantage of the highly palatable & addicting nature of SUGAR.

Blood sugar chaos = hormone havoc. Refined sugar spikes insulin → crashes energy → worsens cortisol dysregulation & midsection fat storage.

Midlife = increased insulin resistance. Estrogen decline makes your cells less responsive to insulin, so sugar hits harder — more fat storage, less muscle building.

Inflammation goes up, glow goes down. Sugar drives inflammation that impacts joints, skin, thyroid & mood.

Sugar fuels stress + fatigue. It gives you a fake “high” then tanks your energy, leaving you irritable, foggy & wired-tired.

Cravings keep you stuck. Every hit of refined sugar lights up dopamine in your brain like a drug — making moderation damn near impossible.

Gut imbalance + bloating. Sugar feeds the wrong bacteria, causing gas, cravings & disrupted digestion (hello, bloat!).

Fiber is your bestie. When you ditch refined sugar and add fiber, you stabilize blood sugar, reduce cravings, balance estrogen & keep your metabolism humming.

Mood + sleep magic. Stable blood sugar = fewer mood swings, less anxiety, better sleep & more stable energy all day.

Most women in midlife aren’t just tired.

Tired of feeling uncomfortable in their body.

The scrolling.
