“I was so thrilled to have Amanda, her son, a Direct Support Professional and a man they serve, join me in the Bates College Alumni Gym to watch the Bates Women’s Basketball Team win the first round of NCAA playoffs against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. She came because the many she supports loves basketball and she wanted him to have this exciting experience. Bates went on the next day to win the 2nd round NCAA game against Smith College is in the Sweet Sixteen in Pennsylvania tomorrow!! Amanda is one of my dearest friends and puts family, Community and people with disabilities as a priority.” - Bonnie Jean Brooks, founding President & CEO of OHI and lifelong advocate for the rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities. Throwback to March 6 when the spectacular Bates’ women’s basketball dominated the court & we were there to soak in every moment of it. 🏀
