This group was originally born out of a vision - a passion and understanding for the great need to mother the mother. Postpartum can be one of the most pivotal moments a woman experiences. It is both beautiful and incredibly challenging. We go through many transformations, both physical & emotional.
At Learning to Thrive, our goal was to create a safe space for new moms. A space where you could come feel seen, heard, & understood. A space where you could find refuge in knowing you are not alone & that we’re all in this together. We wanted to create a judgement free zone where you could come as you are and just “escape” for an hour or two. We wanted to help give others a sense of community and encourage finding/building their very own village.
Our first meeting was May of 2024 and our last was in February of 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the ending of Learning to Thrive. We know it could be such a beautiful, wonderful thing for the women in our community, and hope that maybe someday, this space will be recognized as the stepping stone towards healing & community that it can be.
Unfortunately, attendance rapidly dwindled and remained extremely low for several months. We continued to show up each week in hopes that maybe it was just a busy season, but it never picked back up. To remedy this, we released anonymous feedback surveys. The idea was to hopefully learn more about how we can better serve the community. We found the day of the week did not work for most, so we tried meetings on both Monday’s and Friday’s to better accommodate, but it did not make a difference in attendance. We also understand that maybe the time of day wasn’t the most convenient, but we were making the most of the options we had available to us. As much as we don’t want to see this come to an end, we simply can no longer continue to use time and resources to be present when no one else is able to be there.
We can’t thank those who supported and believed in this vision enough.
Out of all of this, we just hope that we were able to make an impact on the moms we met. We hope you were able to see that we’re all human, we all go through it, and we all experience a lot of the same things.
Postpartum is hard… really hard and sometimes very isolating.
But it is equally as beautiful.
Don’t forget to reach out, speak up.
You are not alone, & there is so much healing found in transparency.
Support one another & don’t be so quick to judge.
Offer a helping hand, a word of encouragement, and check in on your postpartum family & friends — often.
Thank you for trusting us with your time & journey.
Lots of love from our family to yours!
