Ryan was constantly getting sick, and his family was desperate for a solution. 😫
Mom said, “When I first reached out to our PX Docs office, Ryan was always getting sick. His asthma only acts up with illness, and it seemed like with every cold, he would go into bronchospasms that we could not control. He would end up using his rescue inhaler, his neb machine, and oral steroids just to control what was going on.
Many times, we ended up in the ER and urgent care. I finally decided we needed to do something because it would affect his school and his quality of life.
We tried so many doctors, but the reality is once you are in that 24 hr coughing fit, the only thing that would work was the steroids, which, with such frequent use, can be so bad for the body.” 😭
That’s when they decided to try a totally different type of care—one that would get to the root cause of his overactive and completely overwhelming immune response: a dysregulated nervous system.
After starting care, mom said they knew it was working when he got a cold, and it was just like everyone else’s cold and didn’t completely wipe him out. 💪🏻
She said, “When he started his first cold while under care, I was amazed that it was just a regular cough; we did not need any rescue inhalers, neb treatments, and no bronchospasms, which meant no oral steroids. I was so relieved.” 😌
Now, with continued and consistent care, they have seen so many changes. “He has not missed nearly as much school this year and can get through a cold like everyone else and not end up hooked to neb machines and steroids. I love it.” They are even going to talk to his asthma MD about changing to a lower dose or even stopping his inhaler.
