Finally, a scientific answer to the question: What is FCS, and how does it work?

Brian Tuckey’s new article in The International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine presents the development, scientific framework, and clinical applications of FCS, plus a compelling chronic pain case report!

Since the publication of “Jones Strain and Counterstrain” in 1995, there have been few documented methodological advancements in Counterstrain. However, over the past 20 years, Strain and Counterstrain (SCS) has been systematically expanded from a primarily musculoskeletal technique to a novel, ...

One of the causes for Inflammatory Interstitial Stasis (what Fascial Counterstrain treats) is Chemicals (what we breathe in; what we ingest; what’s absorbed through skin). Keep your products as clean as possible!

A study out of UC Berkeley and Clinica de Salud del Valle Salinas evealed how quickly our bodies can respond when we reduce exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals in personal care products. Published in Environmental Health Perspectives, the research followed 100 Latina teenagers who switched to products free of common endocrine disruptors including phthalates, parabens, triclosan, and oxybenzone.

These chemicals, found in nearly all conventional cosmetics, soaps, sunscreens, shampoos, and hair products, have been shown to interfere with hormonal systems in animal studies. After just three days of using alternative products, the results were remarkable: urine samples showed methyl and propyl parabens (common cosmetic preservatives) decreased by 44% and 45% respectively, metabolites of diethyl phthalate (a fragrance ingredient) dropped 27%, and both triclosan and benzophenone-3 levels fell by 36%.

This study demonstrates how simple product switches can significantly reduce our body's chemical burden in a surprisingly short timeframe, suggesting that consumers have considerable power to lower their exposure to potentially harmful ingredients through everyday choices.

Brian talking about why we have chronic pain, trapped inflammation, why blood tests don’t show it (it’s trapped in the local interstitial fluid, NOT the systemic blood stream), and much more. It is great information for understanding how FCS differs from any other technique. It’s a good listen!
