One of the causes for Inflammatory Interstitial Stasis (what Fascial Counterstrain treats) is Chemicals (what we breathe in; what we ingest; what’s absorbed through skin). Keep your products as clean as possible!
A study out of UC Berkeley and Clinica de Salud del Valle Salinas evealed how quickly our bodies can respond when we reduce exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals in personal care products. Published in Environmental Health Perspectives, the research followed 100 Latina teenagers who switched to products free of common endocrine disruptors including phthalates, parabens, triclosan, and oxybenzone.
These chemicals, found in nearly all conventional cosmetics, soaps, sunscreens, shampoos, and hair products, have been shown to interfere with hormonal systems in animal studies. After just three days of using alternative products, the results were remarkable: urine samples showed methyl and propyl parabens (common cosmetic preservatives) decreased by 44% and 45% respectively, metabolites of diethyl phthalate (a fragrance ingredient) dropped 27%, and both triclosan and benzophenone-3 levels fell by 36%.
This study demonstrates how simple product switches can significantly reduce our body's chemical burden in a surprisingly short timeframe, suggesting that consumers have considerable power to lower their exposure to potentially harmful ingredients through everyday choices.
