🚩Parents, stop being gaslit about “colic.”
One of the biggest red flags in picking a provider for your little one is this statement: “colic is normal and they’ll grow out of it.”

False. It’s a symptom of nervous system dysregulation and/or feeding/digestive issues, 9 times out of 10. It’s not normal for your baby to scream hours upon end, arching their back and turning bright red or even purple and it’s so sad that families are being gaslit about this.

How we treat “colic” at CKC as highly specialized pediatric chiropractors:

1.) Start with gentle, specific adjustments and bodywork to calm baby’s nervous system and ease tension in their little bodies
Each week, we see babies holding soooo much tension after birth. When we release this tension, their little bodies and nervous start to regulate and they calm✨

2.) Refer you to an IBCLC/SLP to assess for oral dysfunction/ties or faulty feeding mechanics.
One example: Oral dysfunction/poor latch=aerophagia (excessive swallowing of air)=ticked off/gassy/bloated/reflux baby

3.) Comanage with trusted OT’s, depending on our evaluation, to dive into your baby’s nervous system and potential vestibular issues and to add in supportive bodywork.

Not just, “babies cry and they’ll grow out of it.”
We find at root cause and we fix it. 🤍

Let’s talk about the FOURTH Trimester for a second…🤱🏻

Postpartum mamas need all the support they can get, both physically and mentally. 🫶🏻

After birth, female hormones are unregulated, causing mood swings and those “baby blues” you so often hear about.

Postnatal Chiropractic care focuses on healing and restoring function for these mothers, calming the nervous system which in turn, affects hormone regulation and all bodily functions.

Let’s not forget the “aches and pains” of a nursing mom or general soreness and tension from caring for a child or recovering post-birth (va**na or C-section).

Our providers are highly trained to address these common complaints that we see in postpartum and love being part of the journey of healing and recovery. 🤍

💭Did You Know:

➡️It is both SAFE and encouraged to get adjusted post C-section. We modify adjustments to make you comfortable
➡️You can come get adjusted the moment (YES, same day) you leave the hospital
➡️Our office is “kid-friendly” so bring your toddler along to play while you get adjusted!

Breastmilk and Power Outages🥶
Thanks to Kentucky Breastfeeding Center for recommending this post!

⚡️ POWER OUTAGE + BREASTMILK?
Here’s what to do to keep baby and breastmilk safe.

Power went out and you have breastmilk in the fridge/freezer...I know that panic feeling so well, especially when your milk represents HOURS of work and a food source for your baby.

✅ FIRST: Keep fridge/freezer doors CLOSED as much as possible.

MILK IN THE FRIDGE

🧊 If fridge is ≥ 40°F / 4°C for 4+ hours: save for a milk bath.
✅ If still cold (≤ 40°F / 4°C): use within typical timeframe.

MILK IN THE FREEZER

❄️ If milk has ice crystals: SAFE TO REFREEZE
❄️ If milk is fully thawed but still cold: use within 24 hours (do not refreeze- some parent will opt to refreeze based on their own comfort).
🚫 If milk is warm or you’re unsure: save it for a milk bath.

✨ Pro Tip: Move freezer milk to a cooler with ice packs if outage lasts longer than expected.
✨ Pro tip: keep a cheap fridge thermometer inside your fridge/freezer, it makes decisions SO much easier during outages.

Dr. Turner adjusted an extra special cutie today-Miss Ivy🤍 Why do toddlers need to be adjusted?
Because they’re feral. If you need a further explanation, you don’t have a toddler.

CKC babies, you don’t want to miss this!

Sometimes, feeding challenges aren’t just about milk supply or technique—baby’s body plays a role too.

That’s where Craniosacral Therapy (CST) comes in.

It’s gentle, hands-on bodywork that can support babies who:
👶 Tire easily during feeds
👶 Struggle to latch deeply
👶 Seem tense or uncomfortable

Parents are often surprised at how calming CST sessions are—most babies actually relax right on the table.

Our next CST clinic is on October 26th. Spots are limited, so if you’ve been wondering whether CST could help, now’s the time to book.
