Happy Saturday! Saturdays are a great day to get creative with sober living and enjoy life in recovery.

We're always fans of family time like hikes, walks, board games, and movie nights.

Time out with friends is always great, like going bowling, museums, art galleries, and having friends over to watch sports.

The joy of sober living is being able to be fully present in every moment and allow your authentic self to fully enjoy every experience.

What's some sober living fun you like to have on Saturdays? Comment below!

Kratom, or 7-OH which is the more potent, concentrated form, has seen a dramatic increase in consumption recently. Some pockets of the internet have referenced it as a healthy herbal alternative to alcohol, and others claiming it increases energy and focus, being good for fitness.

The truth is that it has many of the same effects as opioids and it can be highly addictive. With regulatory gray areas on it and greater accessibility, this has become something many folks have found themselves unexpectedly addicted to.

If Kratom or 7-OH is something you struggle with, our comprehensive addiction treatment program is here to help you safely detox, regain control of your life, and establish a new, stronger path forward. Reach out to our admissions team to learn more and we'll verify your insurance benefits for free.

Holistic Therapy is combined with the many other strategies of addiction treatment that we deploy in order to bring complete healing and growth. Addiction does not only affect particular aspects of a person, but every aspect. As every dimension of the person is interconnected, holistic therapy makes addiction treatment comprehensive.

Different holistic therapy strategies include:
- Mindfulness & Meditation - helps reduce stress, regulate emotions, and grow mental and emotional resiliency
- Nutritional & Fitness Coaching - ensures physical health and gives the tools needed to sustain it beyond treatment
- Creative Therapy - things like art, music, and dance help express, regulate, and process emotions that may be too challenging to do in traditional talk therapy
- Recreation - adventure or goal-oriented activities in social settings bring healing through connection and fun.

Holistic therapy is a reliable way to ensure addiction treatment is comprehensive, effective, and fully restorative.

November, or 'Movember' as it has been dubbed, has become a month dedicated to men's mental and physical health in recent years. This effort comes to reverse stigmas surrounding mental health and preventative health practices for men.

As we are intimately involved in assisting men improve their mental and physical health, this awareness campaign is something that we want to share.

We encourage men to assess how they prioritize their mental and physical health this month, and to support other men in assessing and improving their well being. A good rule of thumb is to compare how you care for yourself and how you care for others. If someone you loved was facing the things you are, how would you respond?

From our experience in recovery, a powerful tool for men is healthy friendships with other men. Iron sharpens iron, so don't be afraid to try to initiate and cultivate solid friendships. Additionally, pouring more care, love, and selflessness into any relationship we have only pays dividends to our own mental and physical well being.

And we encourage women to support the men in their lives with compassion, gentleness, and patience. Healthy support from women--spouse, mother, daughter, etc.--can be very powerful for men.

A happy Movember to all!
P.S. It's popular to grow a mustache to help raise awareness. Here's your sign to grow one if you've been debating it.

Tomorrow is Halloween, and with it being on a Friday, there are no doubt lots of fun opportunities to enjoy the festivities! And many of those opportunities work well with living in recovery.

- Take the kids, or your nieces & nephews, trick-or-treating
- Invite friends over to hangout with while you pass out candy to trick-or-treaters
- Have a pumpkin carving party with friends and family
- Check out a haunted house
- Visit a Fall Festival

Connection is one of our greatest resources not just for those of us in recovery, but for every person. Use the festivities as an opportunity to foster and cultivate healthy connection.

And with the extra festivities, it's never a bad idea to check in with friends in recovery.
- Attend an AA or NA meeting
- Reach out to a sponsor or any accountability partner and discuss any Halloween plans

We wish you a happy, safe, and sober Halloween!

Before the month is out, we want to make sure we help raise awareness to an important campaign happening this month. That is Youth Substance Use Prevention Month.

Exposure to substances during childhood/adolescence increases the risk of addiction in adulthood. And with increased peer pressure from social media and the greater accessibility to substances today, youth substance use prevention has never been more important.

Thankfully, common risk factors are usually very identifiable and, even if a child is currently experiencing them, preventable.

Busyness culture and constant distractions make it difficult to get some alone time. Nowadays it's usually something that needs to be prioritized; it doesn't come naturally for most of us.

Solitude is such a great way to reflect on where you've been and where you're going, confront some things that have been on your mind, and relax. Most importantly, it allows us to do those things with calmness and clarity, things that are hard to get in the busyness of life.

Take a walk, drive in silence, stop off and sit on a bench at a park you drive by, watch the birds out of your window in silence, or whatever works. And sometimes just 5 or 10 minutes is enough to reset and reflect.

We hope you can find just a few minutes of solitude this weekend. Happy Saturday everyone!
