ACE inhibitors are commonly used to help relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure. When blood vessels aren’t as tight, the heart doesn’t have to work as hard — helping protect it long-term, even when you don’t feel noticeable changes day to day.

• Lower blood pressure
• Reduce strain on the heart

You may recognize names like:
Lisinopril (Prinivil® / Zestril®), Enalapril (Vasotec®), Benazepril (Lotensin®), Ramipril (Altace®), and Captopril (Capoten®).

ACE inhibitors help block a hormone in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten — allowing blood to flow more easily.

Metoprolol (Lopressor® / Toprol XL®), Carvedilol (Coreg®), Atenolol (Tenormin®), Propranolol (Inderal®), and Bisoprolol (Zebeta®).

Beta blockers work by blocking stress hormones like adrenaline — helping your heart stay calmer and beat more steadily.

💊 Pharmacist tip:
Don’t stop beta blockers suddenly unless your provider tells you to. Stopping abruptly can cause your heart rate or blood pressure to rise quickly. If changes are needed, they’re usually tapered slowly.
