It’s actually amazing the peace and quiet in the clinic when the thunderstorms took out the electricity. I never realized how much buzzing and ringing modern life surrounds us with! Even though today was unplanned and a bit of a stir, it is still perfect here for headache patients!

Salt Craving in migraine is a common Prodrome symptom.

It can relate to fluid balance, low blood sodium, or dehydration.

Snacking on salty foods can help prevent a migraine during this phase.

During migraine attacks, brain fluid (CSF) sodium levels are high, while blood sodium levels are low in sufferers. But after the migraine is over, blood sodium levels return to normal.

High sodium levels in the brain increase the excitability of neurons, making migraine more likely.

There seems to be a difference between men and women when it comes to how dietary sodium affects migraine.

More research needs to be done to truly establish the role of dietary sodium and migraine.
