There’s so much skincare advice online, and it can get overwhelming.
After 7+ years as an esthetician, I’ve learned that it’s not just what you use… it’s how you use it. The order of your products can truly make a difference in how your skin responds.
Here’s the method I often recommend and why:
💜 Eye cream before actives
The under-eye area is delicate and more prone to irritation. Applying eye cream first can create a light buffer before stronger ingredients like retinol or exfoliants, helping to keep that area comfortable and supported.
💜 Retinol on clean, dry skin
Retinol is a treatment step, so I like it applied directly to clean, dry skin for best results. Hydrating serums can follow to replenish moisture and support the barrier.
💜 Moisturizer before SPF (in the morning)
Think of moisturizer as nourishment and SPF as protection. In the AM, hydrate first — then seal everything in with sunscreen as your final step.
What’s one step in your routine you never skip? 💜👇🏽
