🍼 Attention, Willow Tree Pediatrics Families 🍼

We’re alerting all parents and caregivers about an important safety notification regarding infant formula:

What’s happening?

There have been 13 reported cases of infant botulism in infants who consumed the ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.
The outbreak spans 10 states, all 13 infants were hospitalized, no deaths reported so far.

The affected lots are:

Lot 206VABP/251261P2 (Use by: 01 Dec 2026)
Lot 206VABP/251131P2 (Use by: 01 Dec 2026)

The recall is voluntary and precautionary. As of now, there is no confirmed direct link between this formula brand and the illness, and infant formula has never been historically documented to cause infant botulism.

What you should do if you have this product:
Check your formula cans. If they match the lot numbers listed above, stop using them immediately.

Dispose of the recalled formula safely or return it to where you purchased it. If possible, record the lot number before disposal.

Clean and sanitize any bottles, feeding equipment, surfaces, or utensils that may have come into contact with the recalled formula using hot, soapy water or a dishwasher.

If your infant has consumed formula from one of the recalled lots, be vigilant for symptoms and seek medical attention immediately if you notice anything concerning.

Key symptoms of infant botulism to watch for:
Poor feeding or sucking
Decreased muscle tone (“floppy baby”)
Loss of head control
Difficulty swallowing
Weak or altered cry
Constipation
Decreased facial expression
In severe cases: difficulty breathing

Important note: Symptoms can take several weeks to develop after exposure.

Reassurance for families:

Most infants on the recalled formula are not reported ill, and many infants on other formulas are unaffected.

If you’re using a different brand or a different lot of ByHeart formula (not those listed), you’re not impacted by this recall.

If you used the recalled lots and want to contact ByHeart: 1-833-429-4327 or hello@byheart.com

Please check your formula stock as soon as possible, and let us know if you’d like assistance or a consultation. Your baby’s health and safety are our top priority.

These amazing little flyers help control pesky bugs 🦟, pollinate plants 🌸, and even help forests grow by spreading seeds 🌳.

Here at Willow Tree Pediatrics, we love celebrating all the wonderful creatures that keep our world healthy and balanced — just like we do for our kiddos! 💚

This week, take a moment to appreciate our fluttery friends:

Happy Friday!

We have exciting news regarding our new patient portal!
We will be utilizing Follow My Health and have attached a link to download their mobile app.

Tips for the new portal:
- You will receive an email to register an account to access your child’s portal. The email will be sent to the one we have on file for the child. If you have multiple children, you will only receive one email, as you will create an account for yourself and the children are attached to it.
- Please enroll for the portal as we will be implementing a new process for forms that are currently completed in office during the visits. This will be crucial to complete to have access to these forms as soon we will require them to be completed before the appointment.

Attention Friends!!

We have transitioned to a new charting system as of 5/5, which means we are no longer checking patient messages through Practice Fusion.
For now, if you have any concerns regarding your childs health, please call our office and the front desk can get you scheduled or send a message to the medical assistant.

We are working with our team through Veradigm to get access to the new patient portals and will update you all as soon as we can!

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we go through this transition.

Good morning, everyone! 😊

We found a piece of jewelry in Exam Room 1 today. If you've recently lost a piece of jewelry, please give us a call and describe it to the front desk so we can return it to you.

Dear Patients and Families,

I wanted to take a moment to apologize for the scheduling changes this week. Unfortunately, I’m dealing with a severe allergic reaction. After a visit to urgent care, an allergist-immunologist, and an ER trip, I’m still struggling with the symptoms.

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding as I navigate this irritating (pun intended) and challenging health issue. Please bear with me as I may need to make additional scheduling adjustments depending on how I am feeling.

Thank you again for your flexibility and support during this time.

Sincerely,

Lori Denison
