Chef Tim and Sadie always go to the grocery for the week on Monday mornings. No SNAP to help with that cost today so they used our credit card. While I’m thankful we have that option, buying groceries on credit is never a good idea!! We already cover almost half of the food costs for our residents. We haven’t raised our grocery fee to our residents in many years, even though the price of groceries has increased dramatically. Now the government says they will cover half of SNAP but they have no idea how long it will take to get it…like I will just tell my people we will have to wait to eat??? Who do our representatives in government represent??? Not the disabled, poor or hungry. They have no clue nor do they even care. Please help us if you can.

I know this is a last-minute request, but maybe some of you have those plastic pumpkin buckets that you’re not using or your kids have grown out of trick-or-treating… we could use them for our kids!! We are having our trunk or treat on Thursday and thought it would be nice to have more than a Kroger bag for our residents. Please drop them by 507 Rogers Road anytime. Even if you want to bring them after the 31st, we will keep them for next year. Thanks.

Yes, this will be a crisis for the Bob Brown House! 90% of our residents receive SNAP. We already cover about half of our food cost because their SNAP benefit is so low but this will be devastating to our small budget. Our residents struggle to understand the politics of this situation. They just want to know if there will be food on the table. And trust me, they are asking every day. We had a big fiesta birthday blowout last weekend for all of our October babies!! Thanks to Matt and his guys for the street tacos!! And to Mary Ann for the cakes!!!

We’ve moved in 4 new residents in the last 10 days and have 4 more coming by the end of the month. The new location is filling fast. We still need your help with some things…dressers, soft chairs for a bedroom, lamps, wall art, rugs, bath towels, twin/full bed linens and quilt or comforter. You can drop at 507 Rogers Rd anytime or let me know if we need to pick up. Thanks!!
