Yesterday, at our annual celebration luncheon, we honored 2 lovely individuals who make our luncheon beautiful with their table decorations AND ensured we had teal bows all over Paris, Kentucky.

Teal Angel Award - Recognizes an individual or organization who has provided support to BOCS for a particular event or project that advances the mission of BOCS.

Clotine Kissick and LeeAnne Kwasny

“Clotine and LeeAnne were instrumental in placing teal bows in Paris this year. They contacted Paris businesses, the Paris Mayor, and Bourbon County officials to obtain permission to display the Turn The Town Teal Bows. They worked with each business to decide the best place to display the bows. Clotine and LeeAnne assisted Rose Lewis in putting up the bows too. Because of their efforts we have 85 teals bows in downtown Paris at 30 different businesses and government buildings. That's quite an accomplishment!”

Yesterday at our annual luncheon, we honored Jane MacNeil of Turn the Towns Teal Inc. with a BOCS Teal Angel award.

Teal Angel Award - Recognizes an individual or organization who has provided support to BOCS for a particular event or project that advances the mission of BOCS.

Jane MacNeil, Turn the Towns Teal

“In 2013 I had the geat opportunity to attend the OCNA annual conference in Washington,DC. Jane was there representing Turn The Towns Teal organization which honors the memory of her late sister in law, Gayle MacNeil. The best word to describe Jane is “dynamo”. She takes her message and enthusiasm around the country to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. She volunteers her time and energy to get teal ribbons out there. They can be seen around the world. She sends an email about inspiring volunteers on Teal Tuesdays. BOCS was the subject of one of her emails. Jane is a real teal angel!”

Nominated by both Kathy Tabb, and Rose Lewis.

As a registrar at UK Healthcare, she shares her story and has been open about her experiences. Trilby is a powerful advocate for OC awareness, she's a voice for a disease that often isn't spoken of, and she still is living her life.”

Yesterday at our annual celebration luncheon, we honored Judy Hatch from Baptist Health.

Healthcare Provider Spirit Award - Recognizes a healthcare provider who demonstrates exceptional passion and caring for gynecologic cancer patients and their families/caregivers and consistently advances the mission of BOCS.

“To say the least, receiving a diagnosis of stage 3c ovarian cancer was more than devastating to me. From the beginning I had such guilt over what I should have done to prevent this. Guilt paired with fear, dread, anxiety and pain led me to the need for mental health support; and I found that and more in Judy. Judy has such a calm gentle approach to care; she listened to my fears and frustrations and validated my feelings like a friend. We all need a support from someone like Judy; especially when going through the toughest time in our lives.”

Nominated by Camellia Hutchinson.
