This week's lesson 📚

Before healing a sick man, ask him if he's willing to give up whatever made him sick.

Ask yourself are you willing to give up whatever made you sick?

If you are, then that means not trying to fix, manage, and control how help helps you…..

⚠️ ODMAP Drug Overdose Alert: Kentucky Department for Public Health Preparedness Region 5 for 𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗬 ⚠️

Between February 7, 2026 and February 10, 2026, eight suspected nonfatal drug overdose EMS encounters were reported in Hardin County through ODMAP (Overdose Detection Mapping Application System), which represents an unusually high number of suspected nonfatal drug overdose encounters in this period. As a result, people who use drugs in or around this area should take caution to protect themselves.

ODMAP is used to monitor suspected drug overdose encounters in emergency medical services (EMS) data to identify possible clusters of drug overdoses in Kentucky. Drug overdose alerts are generated when a county shows an unusual increase in nonfatal drug overdose-related EMS encounters in a 24-hour period.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗗𝗢:
• Always keep naloxone on hand and administer it if you suspect an overdose. Fentanyl has been found in all types of unregulated drugs, so naloxone may help regardless of the drug taken.

• Visit your local health department to obtain naloxone and other harm reduction supplies. If you do not know where the closest Syringe Services Program (SSP) is, visit chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/dehp/hab/Pages/kyseps.aspx or call (502) 564-6539 for a current list of Kentucky SSPs and their hours of operation.

• Locate naloxone distribution sites and/or access by mail for those without local access: findnaloxonenowky.org

• Call 1-800-696-1996 to connect with overdose prevention, detection, life-saving crisis response and medical intervention services for people who use drugs.

• If you or someone you know needs help with Substance Use Disorder, visit findhelpnowky.org/ky to search for available treatment and recovery options or call 1-833-859-4357 during business hours, or 1- 800-854-6813 after business hours.

• Check in on friends, family members, neighbors and others to share this information.

• Call 911 if you suspect an overdose.

🍲💚 Food Literacy for Recovery 💚🍲

We had a wonderful cooking class at Bluegrass Recovery LLC , made possible through support from the Lexington Department of Social Services.

Participants prepared a Spicy African Chickpea and Spinach Curry, building skills and confidence in the kitchen while learning about:
🥕 Food groups and balanced meals
🔪 Different knife cuts and safe technique
🌶️ Warm spices and flavors commonly used in Moroccan cooking

Cooking together creates connection, confidence, and nourishment. We are grateful to partner with recovery programs to support wellness through food.

✨ Our first session of 2026 is officially in the books! ✨

Today marked Wayland the horse’s first debut of the year with our clients, and it was truly special to witness. Clients spent time building trust, connection, and confidence both with Wayland and with one another. Spirits were high, and excitement filled the space as several clients even experienced riding ba****ck for the very first time. The joy and sense of accomplishment were evident throughout the session.

A heartfelt thank you to Madison for generously donating her time and services to our clients. Her selfless service was a genuine act of love, and we are incredibly grateful for her compassion and dedication.

Equine therapy plays a powerful role in healing and recovery. Working with horses encourages emotional regulation, trust-building, mindfulness, and self-awareness. Horses respond honestly to human emotions, allowing clients to gain insight into their own behaviors, boundaries, and communication styles in a safe, supportive environment. These experiences often translate into increased confidence, emotional growth, and meaningful progress beyond the arena.

We are so thankful for moments like these and look forward to many more impactful sessions ahead. 🐴💙

It's okay if you don't clap for me, because I've seen the teams you cheer for.

One of our favorite quotes at BGR.

Why?

Because sometimes the people who aren't celebrating you aren't the ones you want to be celebrated by 🐑

Remind yourself everyone has a season in your life
