Kerr Brothers Funeral Home

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home At Kerr Brothers, a family-owned a funeral home, we are committed to supporting you in every stage of life. Graham Kerr introduced the family firm of Kerr Bros.

Our mission is to provide thoughtful, uplifting guidance that honors a life well-lived and encourages you to live each day to the fullest. In 1905, with a horse-drawn hearse and rented carriages, W. to the second block of North Broadway in Lexington. He and his twin brother partner, F. Skinner Kerr, had practiced as “Kerr Bros. Undertakers” in their hometown of N. Middleton (Bourbon County, KY) since 1903. Backing the brothers was their father, William H. Kerr, a farmer and standard bred horse owner trainer, who kept some of his horses in a stable still standing at 171 Saunier Avenue in Lexington. Joining the firm through the following years of WW I and WW II were other brothers, Clarence and Hervey and their sister, Lucy Kerr Bush. From this beginning, the Kerr family has proudly offered funeral services to Lexington for nearly 120 years. Growing with the town, the family has participated in civic affairs, including government and health oriented activities such as owning Lexington’s first horse-drawn private ambulance. In 1935, the family partnership moved to an historic home on East Main Street to create the current funeral home. They improved the original location in 1954 and added a chapel in 1967, maintaining the homelike comfort for bereaved families, which continues to be provided today. Now the continuing 3rd and 4th generations, John Kerr, Jr., and John Kerr, III, are further expanding by adding a modern second funeral establishment at 3421 Harrodsburg Road, thus providing two Kerr Bros. locations for growing Lexington. Joining in this enterprise is Billy J. Shell, who after being a Kerr Bros. Licensee for 15 years was offered a partnership in 1997. The experience of nearly 120 years of service is invaluable in providing knowledge of constantly changing population and funeral customs. Any chosen funeral service, including traditional, cremation, distant place of death or transfer can be accommodated. Lexington families can call on Kerr Bros. With confidence in its knowledgeable service, continuing its fine heritage.

Kevin Brian Patrick O’Connor Sr., 85, found peace on the morning of April 2, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky.

Kevin was born November 8th, 1940, in Queens, NY, one of 5 children born to Thomas and Mary O’Connor.

Kevin was proud of his service as a parachutist in the United States Army, XVIII Airborne Corps. Following his service in the Army, Kevin attended Syracuse University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree. Kevin had a 28-year career working for IBM, followed by time spent working at both Lexmark and Nationwide Insurance.

Kevin’s interests and hobbies were varied. He was a capable handyman, who enjoyed spending time “tinkering” around the house and the yard, fixing and building things. He enjoyed taking vacations with his family. Trips to Hilton Head Island, Panama City Beach, and Lake Cumberland were some of his favorites, where he could boat, parasail, take deep-sea fishing expeditions, and spend time with his wife, sons, and other family members. Kevin was adventurous even into his later years; he did his first free-fall tandem skydive in his late 70s. He was also a fan of horse racing and sports, though he found watching his favorite UK Basketball and Pittsburgh Steelers teams more palatable when they were playing well.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his sisters Pat and Mary Anne, and his son Kevin Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife Deidre, his daughter Theresa, his two sons Michael and Brian, his brother Thomas, his sister Eileen, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family who will miss him.

Visitation for Kevin will be held on Thursday, April 9th from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road. Following this, a service will be held at Camp Nelson Cemetery at 2:30pm.

All who knew and loved Kevin are invited to come honor his memory.

Julia S. Dever of Lexington, Kentucky passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Henry Dever, Jr. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 4, 1933, the daughter of the late William Wesley and Stella Adkins Schickinger. The seventh born of eight children, she is the last surviving sibling. Merle Violet Howlett, Wilmer Wesley Schickinger (Doris), Elizabeth Mae Goode (Leonard), Juanita Pollard (William), Geraldine Fentress (Beryl Sr.), John Edward (Jack) Schickinger (Gail), and Sarah Jane McClellan (Jack) all predeceased her. She is survived by her children, Robert Henry Dever lll (Diane), Kathryn D. Kirk (the late Thomas), and Jonathan Brian Dever (Catherine). She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Kevin Thomas Kirk (Katherine), Sarah D. Schmidt (Troy), Brian Douglas Dever (Diana), Elizabeth K. Truelove (Daniel), Benjamin Robert Dever, and Jonathan Lee Boyd as well as 13 Great-Grandchildren, and a Brother-in-Law, Donald Dever. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends that she loved dearly.

Julia retired from the Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot from the Equal Employment Office after being mainly a stay-at-home Mom. She was a member of the former Epworth United Methodist Church (Embrace Church) in Lexington, Kentucky.

In the winter of 1962 Bob and Julia moved their family to Lexington from Louisville, Kentucky. It was a big change after living near a close-knit extended family. By the next morning lifelong friends were made at their new home.

We will all continue to remember her beautiful smile and the love she shared so easily. Always positive and living each day to the fullest, she loved deeply and well. If you came to her home, she would greet you with open arms. Food was offered, and boy, it was delicious! She was ever ready to welcome family and friends to sit around the table and share in some good conversation and plenty of laughter after a wonderful meal!

Her faith was just a part of her and never wavered. Every night she included in her prayers each person she loved, and there were many!

Know that she would want you to believe as she does that Jesus has said: “In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)

The visitation for Julia will be at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home 3421 Harrodsburg Road Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:30 AM with service to follow at 12:30PM. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery.

Anthony (Tony) Neal Raimondo, 87, of Lexington, KY, passed away on March 26, 2026.

Tony was known for his love of cappuccino, gelato, and puns—always ready to share all three with those around him. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to immigrant parents from Italy, Tony grew up in Miami, FL, but always considered Lexington his home, having lived there since 1974. He served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Pace University in New York.

A natural tinkerer and “fix-it” guy, Tony turned the mechanical skills he gained in the Air Force into a small business repairing electronics. His expertise, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit, led him to a customer service field technician role at IBM, beginning a 33-year career that spanned sales, customer service, and product management. Over the years, his work with IBM took him to Houston, San Diego, Los Angeles, and eventually to Lexington.

It was in Lexington, on a golf course, that Tony’s life took its most meaningful turn. There, he met Beverly, who would become his wife of 40 years. His greatest joy was his family. He cherished time spent together, especially during annual vacations to the beaches of North and South Carolina, and two unforgettable trips to Italy, where he impressed his entire family by proving he could still speak Italian. In retirement, he and Beverly enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and spending time on Hilton Head Island, where he rarely missed an opportunity to play in the pool with his grandsons.

Golf remained one of Tony’s lifelong passions—not for the score, but for the camaraderie. While his best round was arguably the one where he met his wife, he treasured every opportunity to spend time on the course with friends, sharing stories and laughter. In recent years, he took great pride in organizing a weekly golf game.

Tony is survived by his daughters, Laurel Raimondo Martin (Howard Florence) of Lexington, KY, and Christa Raimondo Cronin (Will) of Portsmouth, RI, and his grandsons, Henry and Duncan Cronin.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, KY. Following the visitation, a private reception will be held for family and close friends.
