The waterfall at the Sangtuary (from 25 Jan 2025). The Sangtuary is a forest and river ecosystem in Appalachian Kentucky, where native medicinal plants flourish alongside the animals and geological features that naturally support them. Beginning this spring, i’ll be offering a limited line of small-batch, culturally significant Appalachian herbal extracts that can be ordered directly from my website.

Places are still open in my one year herbalism course that begins in May. This is an in-person or online course that imparts all the basic foundational skills of herbalism. I’ve spent decades as a full time practitioner in my community, and will work directly with students to give them the knowledge and confidence needed to begin using herbs for themselves and the people around them. This is a project i have been working on for the last few months, to use traditional materials and methods (like tanning leather, and pit firing pottery) to fix up a cliff dwelling in Appalachia. And hopefully to demonstrate the connection between our land and our culture.
