The Provision School and Family Counseling Center, Inc.

The Provision School and Family Counseling Center, Inc. The Provision is ONE business that serves TWO purposes. In Webster’s dictionary, the word provision is defined as “equipping one for life’s journey”.

We are both a counseling agency that services individuals, familes, and children, and a therapeutic learning environment that works with students that have struggled in traditional school. At The Provision School, our goal is to create a Christ-centered environment that allows students to experience Grace, Hope and Love that will equip them for whatever they may encounter in life’s journey. It is a school for students that are struggling in public, private or home school situations, and need a more individualized, small group setting where their emotional, physical, behavioral and educational needs will be met throughout the day. The goal and hope of the school is that each student would be instructed in an environment that feels safe and secure, encourages their individual strengths, allows them to experience grace if they fail, and problem-solve with peers and adults in a trusted environment so that they may leave more prepared to be a meaningful member of society. The school is based on special education principles, meeting each student’s needs at their current level. It’s highly structured with high expectations for behavior and academics balanced with strong therapeutic care and positive reinforcement. Provision is different than any other school in the Lexington area. Its approach goes beyond simple academics or behavior, by equipping and educating students and families to create a complete therapeutic experience that bridges both home and school.

Spirit week is our favorite week! We love to dress up and get silly! Today was “Back of Your Closet Day” where you could wear something that was in the back of your closet— maybe your favorite dress you have no reason to wear or the clothes you no longer like!
Here are a few of the outfits we saw!

Today, Stephanie Mobley with CivicLex visited our MS and HS classrooms as a guest speaker! Ms. Mobley is the Director of Civic Education for CivicLex, a non-profit strengthening civic health in Lexington by helping our community understand and get involved in local issues, connect with their neighbors, and have a say in decision-making.

Ms. Mobley gave a quick introduction to local government and let our students know how they can make an impact in our community!

One of the things discussed was the opportunity for Provision students to participate in a Civic Engagement Project. These projects will be displayed, discussed (similar to a Science Fair), and evaluated by guests, including local government leaders and community partners!

SO Cool! Thank you, .ky and Stephanie Mobley for your time today! We really enjoyed it!

And a very special thanks to for taking the time to arrange this event!!

Super special thanks to for letting us to be part of their Broadway Buddies program this year! This Sunday our students go to see a showing of the musical, Hadestown!
One student said that it was so good they weren’t able to speak (which is quite a feat! 😉). What an incredible opportunity for many of our students who wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to see a live production!
An additionally special thanks to Mrs. Rice for leading our Drama Club and helping coordinate this event!

We had a great time! Here is a sampling of some of the outfits!

Today was our first day back after an extended snow break— so what did the Pri-mediate math class do? They made pancakes… Peppa Pig’s recipe to be exact!
What a great way to get back to business!

Yesterday, some of our students had the opportunity to visit as part of their Broadway Buddies program! These students will also receive a free ticket to Hadestown in February. We’re thankful for this experience and new partnership with Lexington Opera House.
