Your needs as a person and within your relationships are valid. Denying your needs can suffocate you; tucking them away in unheard of and unnamed places is detrimental to your physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Anger is a powerful primary emotion. It’s easier to express anger rather than being vulnerable about your needs. Maybe you grew up in family where vulnerability was never encouraged. Maybe at some point in life you decided you’re not going to rely on anyone for your needs. Yet your emotions (anger) tell you that there is something off about your relationship that needs to be addressed. Communicating your needs to your partner in a kind and compassionate way through your tone, manner, and content will make a lot of difference in your interaction, and ultimately your satisfaction with each other.
